That's the proposed arena/entertainment complex in downtown Edmonton.

Obviously, Russia is a massive country and the KHL seems to have all the money in the world behind it, but all these modern arenas and plans are very impressive. The most recent 3k+ arena in Finland was built in the late 90s.

It is an oil dome proposal for Edmonton. But the chances that it will be built any time soon are rather small. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=407598 It's a great project, I wouldn't mind if some KHL team picks it up.

According to the IIHF survey of players(2012) there are 346 rinks in Russia.Up from 340 last year.Isn`t it a priority to build rinks in Russia at the moment?

This is BS. I can name you more than 20 rinks that were opened last year. And I'm not even following it.
Just 5 minute research and I could find this.
Rinks opened.
4.11.12 Nizhniy Novgorod

2.11.12 Usman

30.09.12 Kursk region

28.09.12 Sakhalin

17.09.12 Yar-sal

31.08.12 Tomsk region.

Your point? Russia shouldn't build new arenas? Rinks should be a priority? How is this even connected?

I have read that Fetisov said the plan is to build another 300 rinks.Found it strange that only 6 rinks have been built the last year according to IIHF.Well, I want Russia to build more rinks to be competetive.Simple as that

You don't need to quote all pictures.

rinks also can cease to exists meantime (which happened in my hometown fe), or the new ones are only replacing old ones, which doesnt increase overall number of them.

Latest VTB Arena renders. Though they are subject to change as the arena is in redesign stage now, since it's been excluded from wc2018 list.

I think we should start a vote as to what team deserves to play in such beautiful venue.

And lighting test.

Sochi is very small town, not very active when it comes to sport-support. I don't see a team being supported well there, but if someone wants to blow the money to dust...

But the whole region Krasnodar has 5 mio inhabitants? So maybe a KHL team there could work with a farm team Kuban Krasnodar?

imho, not in sochi, if a VHL team moves to Sochi and KHL to Krasnodar I can somehow see it happen.

But then they had to relocate the stadium too.

So can we expect to see no league hockey in Sochi ever ?!

I think on contrary, but I expect the same destiny as Zhemchuzhina - Sochi in football.
