Winnipeg Detroit

To Detroit:
Dustin Byfuglien
2nd/3rd Round Pick

To Winnipeg:
Darren Helm
Ian White
Tomas Tatar

Detroit is able to shed some of their roster players (16+ nhl fwds!) and turn them into an upgrade on their top d pairing, Kronwall Byfuglien could be effective compliments to one another. Winnipeg sheds their 3 top pairing d logjam, and adds some real depth to the fwds and a very much needed PK upgrade.
Would allow the Jets to run a very effective 4 line system similar to Boston, and have 2 very good quality 1st/2nd lines and 2 very good 3rd/4th type lines. Salary is a wash.

======
Detroit
Bertuzzi - Datsyuk - Franzen
Brunner - Zetterburg - Nyquist
Cleary - Filppula - Samuelsson
Miller - Abdelkader - Tootoo

Byfuglien - Kronwall
Quincey - Smith
Colaiacovo - Ericsson

=======
Winnipeg
2a Ladd - Little - Wheeler
2b Kane - Jokinen - Burmistrov
3a Tatar - Helm - Wellwood
3b Ponikarovsky - Slater - Antropov

Enstrom - Bogosian
Hainsey - White
Postma - Stuart

Im not sure if I should have a draft pick in there from WPG or not. Initially I just had Byfuglien...

I like it for both teams, good proposal. Slater, Helm and Burmistrov gives the Jets three very good defensive centers

Jets aren't going to trade Big Buff unless they get another impact player in return. Maybe the jets would be willing to sweeten the pot to get a 1st line center, but they don't need to do it.

Why is Winnipeg trading their .8 PPG dman for third liners?

No thanks. Winnipeg can get better value for Byfuglien elsewhere.

Case in point: If Pittsburgh can get James Neal for Goligoski, we should at least shoot for that value or higher.

I would definitely consider moving Byfuglien for Kesler. More peices might need to be added by both teams though. Something like

To WPG
Keslker
Tanev

To VAN
Byfuglien
Cormier

Agree with the consensus here that Winnipeg doesn't / shouldn't do this. As previously mentioned, if Buff was traded, it would be much better to get a single impact player back instead of multiple lesser pieces.

However, to play along, if it's a quantity proposal including the Wings, if both White and Tatar were replaced and improved on, it could possibly get traction.

Otherwise, keeping one of the highest point producing D men in the game probably makes more sense.

I like it, value-wise, I just overall wouldn't do it... As said, we'd need ONE good player coming back instead of a few decent ones.

Not a fan of either team, but I think the value is fairly decent, but I just donít think the Jets would be willing to trade away Byfuglien.

What's with Helm suddenly in all the Detroit proposals?

I'm pretty skeptical about Buff's D and what level he can improve it to but he brings so much offence from the backend I can't see us trading him till some of our younger players can pick up that slack. I'm not sure if anyone has statistics on this but just from watching my guess would be his offensive capabilities outweigh his defensive gaffes?

In terms of the Detroit players coming back I really don't think White is the type of defencemen we're looking for even though I like him. I love Helm a lot but I think the 3rd and 4th line jobs are probably going to be taken up by Burmi and Slater plus we have Cormier and Antropov who could also fill those spots. Tatar has put up pretty nice stats in the AHL haven't really seen him play so I'm not really sure what his potential is?

I just don't think that is the return we would be looking to get on Buff IMO.

Would rather have Enstrom and not move Helm.

How do you plan on doing that? Enstrom isn't a free agent.
