I'd also like to point out, Weber scored 50 points (49 + games missed) without working with any star power in Nashville
Ottawa scored a grand total of 12 goals more than Nashville. All that and much more is due to Karlsson as well. Nashville minus Weber > Ottawa minus Karlsson offensively.

Sick of this argument. Weber was not Lidstrom's defensive equal and also scored fewer points.
Um, what? Clearly they were not equals defensively because Weber was definitely superior. Lidstrom did rack up more PP points though...that is about it. It was nice to see him get the career achievement award, but his defensive decline was obvious.

Chris friken Pronger won one Norris in his career I don't know why people are so floored Weber hasn't won one.
That Pronger has only won one has always amazed me. Had to have an MVP season to win it too. That's just what happens when you're the same age as an all-time great, playing in the greatest defensive era in hockey history.
Pronger got injured in a lot of the years where he was considered a frontrunner (before injury).
Pronger with no injuries (and no suspensions) probably would have taken at least 1-2 more Norris trophies over the 2000s.
That's a lot to ask though because a lot of what makes Pronger who he is is his nastiness and physicality, live by the sword die by the sword.
As per the thread, perhaps Weber could have won it in 10-11, but even then I thought it was a pretty close race between Chara/Lidstrom/Weber, Lidstrom being pushed over the edge due to reputation.

Exhibit A as to how hockey doesn't matter on ESPN:
Last night an ESPN program was discussing how the Detroit Pistons needed a hero citing the heroes on the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and no mention of the Detroit Red Wings. All this despite the Red Wings probably being the most succesful team in Detroit right now.
0. Chara deserved it the year he won, and Karlsson deserved it last year. 78 points doesn't get argued away by being "grittier", and Chara definitely deserved his. I agree though, I don't see it as a real issue that Weber hasn't one a Norris yet, as somebody mentioned, Chris Pronger only won one Norris in his career, so it's really not a slight against Weber that he hasn't won one yet. Weber is one of the best defensemen in the world, but he's never been the absolute best in a single season yet.
