Wow I get a called 3 1/2 hours before my shift saying I do not need to come in because its raining and it will be slow today.

I just wonder if they have called other people and why did they choose to call me. I really do like this job and would like to stay. I will go in around my scheduled time to see who's working and to pick up my schedule.

It's a retail job right? This is completely normal/typical. Expect it to happen every other shift for a couple months after xmas.

They probably have called other people, or maybe they haven't. But these things tend to work out over time. You won't always be the only one asked to stay home. It's annoying but just let it go and enjoy having a Friday off.

It does make sense that it would be slow today since it is pouring rain and I work at an outlet of an outside mall. Californians hate rain and cry when wet.

This is the first time they have called me and said I do not need to come in but I was looking forward to work today and I want to work as many hours as I can so after the holidays they keep me on. I wasn't told I was seasonal when they hired me so I don't think I am I would like to stay so I don't want any seasonal person to take my spot.

I have came in when they have called me and have stayed later when they have asked so I hope all of that helps in my favor.

Wasn't it a new store? If so then I think you'll be fine come January. Your hours will be cut, but you should still have a job.

Coffee sucks. Love tea however... Lipton is fine most days, but like the Keurig Twinings black tea and the Starbucks awake tea... I will put a sweetened Starbucks Awake tea latte up against anyone's drink of choice.

my very close friend is from Oregon. the other day I texted him when it was flurrying to tell him pretty it was. He was all..."Be careful driving! it might not stop".
He checked on my like every hour.

I'm like...dude, this is not a N'Oreaster, it's flurries.....

Yeah I'm no Survivorman or Bear Grylls, but it is comical to see how certain parts of the country panic when a few snowflakes hit the pavement.

Well last night was a downpour and windy I turned off my music to concentrate on driving it was that bad.

But a few nights ago we were talking at work and the CSM was saying how he loved this time of year and another co worker said she hates the cold and wants to live in LA.

Told her where I grew up and how I grew up in the snow.

Another co worker was saying how he liked Seattle even though it rains a lot

Seattle is actually a nice place

IDK we will see they hired more people than they needed probably like a lot of places do this time of year. Just that I don't think a manager likes me IDK why I haven't done anything at all and I am still learning everything at the store.

Just hope to stay love the company I work for and hope to move up.

That's the worst, and actually can be really scary. I've only come across that a handful of times, and most of those times were in Orlando.

WBC I couldn't respond earlier because I was sleeping and that topic is closed but that band being spread out will make it even more difficult for everyone to get better as a band when performing and putting together music.

It's hard enough when everyone is in the same state.

All I need right now for my label is 2 things my official logo which is taking awhile, once I get that I am going to kickstarter.com to get funds for it.

After that all the legal stuff will be done.

I already have 6 bands lined up to do a show in 2013 I actually hope to start a metal fest like NE has and I am talking to a venue that has 2 stages

Last sunday I went to

first night of it got to hang out with 3/4s of The HAARP Machine for most of the show except when they performed. Great guys who really appreciate the fan support. Liked talking to their bassist cuz of his cool english accent. Got 3/4s of them to sign their album cover.

tracked down The Faceless after the show and was a dork getting all their signatures

I did not know the other band Revocation was from Boston until I got home

Crazy how fall can be so awesome for sight seeing, then all hell breaks loose just a month later

Having grown up in California, I can vouch for the truth in this statement. You hit the nail on the head with this one.

As for getting called off the schedule, Chuck is right - it's not abnormal at all. And as long as you work hard and do what your bosses ask of you, you're doing what you can to ensure that you stick around after Christmas.

I grew up in the high desert of SoCal, which meant that we would get snow typically once, maybe twice a year. No kidding, if we got half an inch of snow, they would cancel school.
