2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge (Dec. 29-Jan. 4) Sweden Wins It
Even though he's a 97 and not playing in the WHL, I'm surprised Barzal isn't playing for Team Pacific. He is right there neck an neck with McDavid.
neck & neck? I doubt it but unfortunately WHL prospects are the ones I see the least. That's why I love these tournaments so much but McDavid is the best player on Ontario right now and he's the youngest player lol if Barzal was the same level he'd be a lock for the roster, unless he's hurt but I haven't heard anything.

I only saw Barzal the one time this past summer head to head v McDavid. Barzal outplayed him for 2 periods....no doubt McDavid is an exceptional talent, but I think Barzal could hold his own in the u17 tournament.

Man does team Ontario look good. Aaron Ekblad will be a man amongst boys in this tourney as far as physical development. The kid is a beast.
Connor McDavid should easily be the most skilled player in the whole tournament (15 years old!!!), unless there is some other wunderkid I haven't heard of.
And watch out for Michael Dal Colle. Great start with the Oshawa Generals this year having spent the whole season on the top line with Biggs & Jenner. Kid looks like the real deal and does very well at the OHL level. I would expect him to dominate against players at his own age level.

Nice. Sweet numbers there. Though I'm a little more impressed with McDavid's OHL stats so far this season. But hey, tough to judge, Swedish league is very good as well. I'm not going to pretend I know all about William Nylander. Thanks for the heads up, will definitely catch as much as I can of him now!
Last year I was able to watch almost every game on the internet. Almost every game was streamed. Hoping its like that again this time around. The only bad thing is that the tournament was in Slovakia last year I think or Czech and I couldn't understand a word the commentators were saying.

I don't think anyone else is on McDavid's level as far as prospects go, and he's a year younger. Nylander is a great prospect too however, he's only four points short of the best notion ever by a U17 player in SuperElit with half the games to go..
Another good Swede in this agegroup is Rasmus Andersson who's a regular in Allsvenskan already. Great size, great offensive skills.
I don't think anybody can dance with Team Ontario this year... This is the most impressive Team Ontario I've ever seen... at least 6-8 future NHL stars in that mix. But we'll see how the team meshes.

They certainly are loaded. It will take one hell of a team to beat them. You never know though, bad goal tending, injuries before the tourney, during, not jelling as a team. Ontario lost their final game a year or two ago when they could only dress something like 9 forwards. Don't quote me but something like that.

Of course anything can happen. That's why we play the game.
As mentioned in other threads, team Ontario is basically a Marlies/Rebels all star team, with some more talent thrown in. The forward group is fantastic, especially considering the start that guys like Watson and Dal Colle have had.
Alot of these guys have played together, which should help.
