Bogosian vs Gardiner

Both drafted in the 1st round of 2008. Both had 30 points last season. Was Gardiner's rookie season while Bogosian already has a few under his belt. Maybe they have similar upside, but they bring different things to the table. Which one do you think will be the better of the two?

Bogosian for me. Wish that trade with Atlanta had gone through.

Gotta go with Bogo here both gonna be great players but Bogo has all the tools to be flat out dominant.

Gardiner for me. Bogosian has 4 years under his belt and still hasn't looked all that dominant.

Bogosian, better 2 way guy, not a knock on Gardiner.

Gardiner could potentially end up being better, but I'd say the odds are heavily in favour of Bogosian being the better player so it's hard to go against him. Bogosian has already proven to be a capable defender against tough competition, and while I think it's unfair to already dismiss Gardiner as an offensive defensemen, he hasn't proven anything against tough competition like Bogosian has.

Hudler and Ericsson or Kindl with 1st was one rumor. IIRC the other one was two 1sts and Kindl.

Bogosian hasn't done a lot in his 4 years in the league. Don't know why he is flat out dominating this poll considering how great Gardiner was in his rookie season. Hell, I even remember his last season in Atlanta the fans were calling him Bozo or bozosian or something like that.

Bogosian had a higher PPG last year while playing much, much tougher minutes. He was the shutdown guy and still put up very respectable PPG numbers.

Bogosian and it's not even close for me.

Leafs fan saying Bogosian with no hesitation. Anyone that watched Bogosian last year would know how dominant he looked for the Jets.

If there is a young d-man that I had pick who may have the chance to be like Weber, Bogosian would be my guy. He is incredible in all 3 zones and can flat out take over a game when he wants to. He just needs to consistently develop his offensive game and stay stable defensively like he did last season, and he is a legit #1 d-man.

They were still drafted the same year, and have the same amount of development time.

Bogosian had the same points on 10 less games, while facing tougher minutes. He's also way better defensively and more physical than Gardiner.

Gardiner's good but Bogosian is better than him in pretty much every aspect of the game.

I'll take Jake Gardiner. I feel Gardiner in his prime will be able to create offense better than Bogosian and he's not bad at the 'defending' aspect of the game either.

Gardiner is a better skater and has better offensive skill, IMO.

They're both the same age but Gardiner produced the numbers in his rookie season.

The situation is not fair to compare with Bogosian who already has almost 4 years of NHL under his belt, but the fact that Gardiner produced 30 points in his rookie year really tells you something about his offensive potential.

Also, Gardiner is more of a puck moving defender than Bogosian.

Disagree about Gardiner being a better skater. Bogosian is an elite skater. But I will say I like Gardiner transition game better. That is to say I think after his team has possession in the d zone he's better at getting it set up in the ozone. I like Bogosian more in his own zone and as much in the ozone. I think Gardiner is better at getting his team set up to score points.

I like Gardiner. Just think Bogosian is quite a bit better at this stage and think he has a higher ceiling

Bogo and it isn't anywhere near close. Bogo's offense is average and he's an elite shutdown defender to boot.

Bogosian easily right now, but i wouldnt be surprised to change in the near future. This was the first season where Bogo proved he isnt a disappointment so its not like his play was all that dominant up until this point but he had a phenomenal season in Winnipeg.
