Spezza, needed for cheering up the locker room, plus his a great hockey player as well.

Went with Mike Richards.

I can't see Spezza making this team, TBH. And it pains me to say it as I live in Ottawa, and he's great in the community and overall seems like a cool guy. We're too loaded at center (the first five voted onto the team were centers, and all are clearly ahead of Spezza), probably isn't versatile enough to play effectively at the wing position or in a bottom 6 role, and he's probably also behind others like Getzlaf, who may still bounce back and get himself back on the team. Plus, he's never been a favorite of Hockey Canada.

So, in my view he needs to keep up his pace from 2011-2012, and get quite a bit of help - an injury or two to a top six center.

Roll 3 very balanced scoring lines and a defensively oriented line. Bergeron and Seguin have chemistry, as do Benn-Perry (from this years WHC). Hall is the 13th forward because his speed and tenacity will be invaluable on the big ice surface. I could also see J. Staal or Lucic being used in this role (albeit slightly altered)
I say make that checking line Lucic-Richards-J Staal (Man I'd hate my team to play that line) Lucic is a natural left wing, I'd take Richards over Bergeron in a shutdown role and Staal has significant experience playing on the RW. That's one hell of a scary shutdown line.

Hall could steal Benn's place by the 2014 Olypics and Benn could end up being the extra forward.

The scoring lines themselves look very balanced. I donno... if I had to nitpick anymore I'd say Perry isn't a shoe-in just yet. Let's see how his play continues.

what? right now Perry is definitely in, and guys like Eberle, Hall, Seguin and even Benn wouldn't probably make it. you could use the same "let's see how his play continues" for any player in there and especially for the unproven guys like the ones I mentioned.

I mean it's not like he finished 7th in league scoring this year and lead the NHL in points for a month.

My point is he is already among the best forwards in the NHL and there is every indication in the world that he has worlds of growing still to do, based on the players whose numbers he has matched or beaten at every stage of his career
This.

I think he can still be a top 3 player in the league and have his name mentioned with Crosby and Malkin. When he enters his prime, 100+ points is a possibility. Only way he won't be at this tournament is if he's injured.

Also as a Sens fan, as much as I like Spezza, and he's probably a top 25 player in the league, I just don't see where he fits in. I would love to see it, but the people that play similar to him do it more effective.

2 years from now I might have to take Eberle or Seguin over Perry.

If Spezza played in Toronto he would be on a lot of people's list
That's nice, he's also injury prone while Stamkos, Giroux, Toews are better then him and are curving upwards add in a player like Tavares who's also curving upwards and brings everything Spezza brings and there's almost no chance for him.

Perry, I'd have Skinner on this list before Burrows...

Edit: Duchene too
