My god, that looked like an awful league. Half of the players couldn't even skate properly, from the looks of it.
Yeah, I would say the quality of the league would be about on par with the CHL (central hockey league) or maybe even lower. It certainly isn't close to the level of play of the ECHL.
Bonino looked like Gretzky compared to those guys (which is obviously reflected by his point totals). It's hard to say if his skating has improved compared to such weak competition but when he rushed the puck up ice for one of the goals he set up his acceleration looked like it was still below average.
Talk of Etem possibly becoming Cogliano not only got my eyelid twitching uncontrollably but also reminded me I forgot to post that on Sunday he scored a GWG in OT.
I don't think we have to worry about him becoming Cogs. He and Wagner are improving with every game - in all areas, not just PK. That is turning into one hell of a draft for us. Might end up being our best.

Either that or 2009.
And like I said earlier. getting a Cogliano type at 29 (I don't believe that's what Etem will be) is still good value.

2009? Holland, Vatanen and Palmieri are good prospects but there is no one with franchise type potential. 2010 may come close or even surpass 2003 but 2009 won't.

When Cogliano was Etem's age, he scored 18 goals and 45 points in the NHL. You just never know.

You're focusing on "pick at 29", I look at it from a perspective that he scored 100+ goals in around 130 games in his last two seasons in WHL. From that perspective him becoming Cogliano type player is absolutely terrible. Cogliano type players are dime a dozen.

I didn't say that he couldn't become that, but we shouldn't be freaking out because he has some superficial similarity. 'I saw a night bird at the market. We will have three weeks of rain, and we will lose to Hershey.' Cogliano didn't become Cogliano because he scored those points, nor because of any other omens.
What's the point of playing in a league that bad? I understand the "keep in shape" part, but wouldn't you try your hardest to find a spot in a league that could possibly help your development? I guarantee Bonino isn't improving his game much by playing against players who are a step away from being very good beer leaguers.

He wanted to play in a league where he's considered fast.

Supposedly there are a lot of ties with Philadelphia. He's originally from there, and supposedly has some connections with some execs.
