You got that right, I don't think the defense has ever been worse, and that's going back to the 1st season in 01/02. Jones certainly played his butt off this afternoon though.

highlights from today's 3-2 overtime lose to the Portland Pirates. Post game interviews with Morris and Toffoli



Injuries are starting to pile up. Campbell, Kolomatis, Loktionov, and King all out long term now (Czarnik is out as well). Wish we could a estimate on a return date for Lokti and King.

According to the 6 week estimate given on Campbell and Kolomatis that should have them both back around mid december

I gave him the benefit of the doubt but its obvious now; Loktionov is made of glass and I doubt that will ever change.

It is kind of funny/sad when you think about the fact - that these guys were all drafted by on NHL organization that managed to develop only ONE homegrown #1 NHL goaltender (Quick) in almost 50 years of existence...
Other then Zatkoff I am not sure Brust and Taylor are NHL material...but who knows...goaltenders=unpredictable.

Dwight King is expected to be back in the line-up tonight verse the Springfield Falcons! Making it the first time the 3 Monarchs with their names on the cup will be in the line-up together.

Loktionov is also expected back soon!

Brust is really only playing because of his hot streak and is arguably the third best goalie on Abbotsford behind both Taylor and Irving. Always thought Zatkoff could be a solid NHL backup or spot starter and he'd be a lot better than Mannino being Jones backup this year... Bummed the Kings let him go.

JLB was great in the AHL too.

Morris seems to be rotating the bottom 6 guys through.

I agree, Danny Taylor and Barry Brust are not and never going to be NHL goalies in any capacity beyond a 3rd string emergency guy (I think Zatkoff could be an NHL backup at some point). I just thought it was amusing to see...

Who else? Tyler Toffoli buries a rebound to make it 2-0 Monarchs. Assists go to Pearson and Vey. That's ten goals on the year for Toffoli.

Great play by King to steal the puck in the offensive zone and hand it over to Cliche, who gets the easy goal. 3-0 Monarchs.

Falcons get one back to end the shutout. 3-1 Monarchs.

Hell of a one-timer by Calvert on the PP to get the Falcons within one. 3-2
Monarchs.

Czarnik tips in Muzzin's shot to make it 4-2 Monarchs.

And just seconds later, the Falcons strike. 4-3 Monarchs.

And we all saw it coming. 4-4.

I think a goalie needs to play a lot more games to give the starter a breather before I would call him a fine backup.

Key to this year is the rookies. So far they've been great! Toffoli has been the man! Pearson has been great! Weal and Andreoff have been solid! Exciting stuff for a Kings fan to be watching
