Stefan Noesen is back in the lineup tonight and has 2 goals already. Hopefully puts any of the worries about his ankle to rest.
Matt Grzelcyk has looked really good so far tonight for BU. I think he's going to prove me wrong and make the team this year instead of next year like I thought. He's outplayed Mike Reilly and Brady Skjei by a good amount to start this year. Reilly's summer camp will buy him some more leeway but Skjei's in trouble.
I don't really see how Skjei makes the team at this point.
Neither do I. I'm assuming his skating ability will be the only reason he even gets an invite to the pre-tournament camp, an invite I'm not sure he even deserves right now. He's been shaky at best in the Minnesota games and I've comfortably preferred Reilly in those viewing as well, although Reilly has been up and down as well. If I had to choose my 7 d-men right now they would be: Jones, Trouba, Gostisbehere, Grzelcyk, McCabe, Sieloff, Murphy.
If Gibson's injury is serious that's a huge loss. To me he's the most important player on the team.
Grzelcyk had a great game tonight. The thing that has always made me a fan of his is that he's not only a very good offensive d-man, but he's also good in his own end. I think he'll be with the team when all is said and done.
I'm interested to see McCabe play now as everyone seems to like his chances while I've never been a big fan of his game. The poor play of Reilly and Skjei certainly helps his cause though.
He hasn't regressed. I've watched a ton of Whalers games this year. Plymouth got depleted by graduations then injuries. There are several guys there that have standout talent in spite of some diminished point totals.
agreed.
he has been hurt some as well, kid will be one of the most important players on this team hands down. versatile and capable of playing any style of game... this is his chance to show why the US screwed up massively by not picking him last year.
I am soooo excited to see Noesen and Trocheck on this WJC team...two players who work their ***** off, who have earned their spot on this team.
Is there any talk of having Tyler Biggs ride shotgun on one of the top two lines? In Oshawa he always plays with Boone Jenner, and I think he really opens things up...not to mention it's sometimes good to have a big hard-nosed player on a skilled line.

Mersch is a man among boys...wish that kid would have made the US WJC team last year...
Kerdiles has looked very good in his debut. Kid has sick hands, solid wheels, and solid size...I really cant see him not making team USA if he only gets better from here.
McCabe impressed the heck out of me with his defensive game. Kid made some huge blocks, and one hell of a poke-check late in game. Kid has a spot on this team as well...
Joseph LaBate looks good, but goes invisible at times. I understand Wisconsin has trouble scoring and lacks depth, but with Kerdiles back, maybe LaBate starts producing more as he worked well with Mersch out there tonight.
Nick Shore has come a long way since I saw him with the USNDP. He is a true player.
