The Erie Otters have fired coach Robbie Ftorek. The new coach is a once Islanders draft pick
Kris Knoblauch-drafted sometime in the late 1990's. Posted this since Pelech plays for Erie.
that McDavid kid, holy wow. That guy will be a superstar in this league. That is all.
Just got finished watching Mayfield. I was impressed with his offensive instincts and skill and thought he was aggressive offensively. I would love to see him paired with Griff. He has a large frame with excellent mobility but it seems like he is not filled out and he wasn't as physical as I would have liked, especially in the crease. However, he did challenge forwards along the boards and at the blueline which I liked to see.
When watching him you can definitely see the raw potential.
He reminds me of Kurtis Foster a little bit but I think Mayfield will be better in his own zone.

was a good game good goaltending.
I liked what I saw from Mayfield as well. I love how he rushes the puck and is not afraid to take it thue the zone. He played well defensively too. Hes big but still kind of thin but once he fills out....wow.... I cant wait to see what becomes of him in the future.
What's most impressive to me about Strome is that he's putting up all these points while improving his overall game. He's been much better defensively this season and his skating has also improved. I'm really excited to see how his success thus far will translate to the WJC tournament.
Nice to see Grabner scoring goals and Visnovsky being productive. IF there is a season, hopefully these guys play a major part of us possibly being successful. With a shortened season (48 games ?), we might be able to sneak into the playoffs, we are usually close the first half of the season.
The following might be worth mentioning.
Grabner came in on a bang and had like 5-4-9 in 4 or 5 games. He now has 10-9-19 in 17 games. His team was on a five game losing streak. Then yesterday he didn't play and his team won 11-2 - against the 2nd place team (Zagreb).
Here's a look at what some nobodies on his very team are doing.
Derek Ryan has 16-23-39 in 27 games.
John Hughes has 12-25-37 in 27 games.
Derek Damon has 13-16-29 in 27 games.
Dman Mario Altmann has 9-18-27 in 27 games.
The league features some fun pond hockey-style play and some real barn burners, but it is by in large an ECHL level league and Grabner looks a bit like many NHLers in Europe right now - just playing to stay fit but by no means get hurt.
Just a note along the boards...

Gotta add that quite a few nhl players are producing less than those 3 nobodies. Ill try and make a list of nhl players currently playing in the ebel when i get home from work.
