I saw the TSN home page and a Chiefs helmet. The story hadn't loaded yet, but I knew it had to be bad news. The 1-9 Chiefs weren't going to making front page news on a non-football day for a good reason that's for sure. This is absolutely terrible. I always rush to blame the killer in these circumstances but then I always wonder what brought them to this point. I would have to believe that he killed his girlfriend in some sort of act of passion and then decided he couldn't live with the guilt, or the thought of spending the rest of his life in jail. Unlike most murder/suicides he took the time to kill himself some time after the fact.

People kill themselves without the influence of drugs all the time. Why do we need a scapegoat? Concussions? People just snap and lose it sometimes. I don't get why he had to kill his girlfriend but it happened.

Life goes on.

They had essentially canceled the show for that night, so the show didn't "just go on" (although that was more because of the storyline). They should have canceled it, and Vince was sorry he didn't, whether or not he said it.

Honestly if Chiefs refused to play and forfeited ,, I wouldn't have an issue with it

Expecting HC and players who witnessed this to just walk back on field tommorrow and play is a bit outlandish

Both teams are awful ,, NFL could push this game back to later date without issue

Have teams play this game on Thursday after week 17... Playoffs start up on Saturday of that week

A thursday game between 2 teams playing for #1 pick wont change anything or impact the NFL negatively

Honestly it would be good PR for NFL to postpone this game

Wikipedia says he shot himself infront of Cheifs Coach & GM. No idea if this is true, but if so Its Wikipedia, so I won't jump to conclusions, but that is really tragic if so, for everyone that witnessed it.

That would be a good option BWC. Some players might want the distraction though. I think it should be left up to the Chiefs organization to decide.

I imagine the shock of it is effecting several alot though especially those who witnessed it or might have been extremely close to him

It just makes sense to push game back to Jan 3rd and play it then on a Thursday night

Sudden death can be a pretty traumatic thing to witness. A reporter in the room of Buddy Dwyer's suicide wound up quitting his job over it.

1. What you call a "scapegoat", other people call a reason. If we understood these "scapegoats" we might be able to prevent some of these events.

2. Clearly not.

Is there any understanding as to what drove him to do this?

As for pushing the game back, no chance. It sounds crass, but the last thing the League will want to do is draw any more attention to this than there will already be. Push the game back a few days and it becomes a national spectacle instead of the byline that it will be tomorrow.
It's the number one topic on the BBC. And they don't even care about the sport. This isn't a byline.

I really hope they're not considering a moment of silence for someone who attempted to murder his girlfriend.

At least direct the moment of silence to his girlfriend.

I think Sean Taylor's murder was during a BYE week.

I don't have time to check on when Kenny McKinley;s suicide and the Bengals player who was killed by his girlfriend were on the schedule, but they didn't alter the schedule as far as I know.

I hope they can save the girl's life.
Someone really should get fired. That's just sick. And the fact that they're even worrying about his "fantasy impact" at a time like this is disgusting.

Thoughts go out to the woman's family and the coaches/GM. I don't think they actually will, but canceling the game would be the right thing to do. I know I couldn't play if something like this occurred.

Well it wouldn't be necessarily for him, but for the victim who was, by proxy, a member of the Chiefs family.

Feels like there's been an inordinate amount of death this season with Seau, Sabol, Model, Karras and now this.

Seeing this player killed his girlfriend before taking the gun on himself, it could be that his girlfriend was going to leave him and he couldn't handle it. Maybe he caught her cheating on him? We may never the whole story.

Or she did nothing and was murdered for no reason

Simple fact is he took life of a young women who in no way deserved to be taken from this earth. He also has ruined the life of her family/that child who will grow up without a mother (And father) and who knows how much harm he has inflicted upon coaches/teammates who saw him take his own life

There is no whole story that could somehow justify it, he killed his girlfriend and then himself. He was a piece of trash.

Could be a number of things obviously but you gotta wonder if this is another CTE related tragedy.

Or it is just another guy killing his GF and himself

Seriously the media/etc jumping to conclusions of concussion is absurd.. We have murder/suicides in regular society often and those people dont have concussion issues

And it is a cop out to use concussions as reasoning for this
