Crosby - Don't hate him but the Bruins haven't had good luck with concussions.

Luongo - His performances on the big stage in Boston speak for themselves.

Sedins - Good players but not the type I want on my team.

So guys like Phil Kessel, Steven Stamkos, Alex Ovechkin, Alex Semin, Patrick Kane, Brian Campbell, Erik Karlsson etc.

The Blues are built to win close, low-scoring games i.e. 1-0, 2-1, 3-1; they are not built to win games 5-2, 6-3, 7-4, etc. If all five players on the ice aren't buying into the team defense strategy, it falls apart. Without it, the Blues don't have enough firepower to be competitive.

While some of those players have the offense to make-up for their lack of defense (Stamkos, Karlsson), I'm afraid of the impact it would have on those players that don't have that level of offense. Guys like Oshie and Steen don't have enough offense to be top-six players without their great defense. If everyone doesn't buy into the team defense concept, it doesn't work very well. If the team defense doesn't work, the Blues don't win.
I'd take every single one of those players sans Semin.

Kesler because it would be way too confusing having him and Kessel at the same time right!

Marc Fleury (Don't know why, just don't like him)
Ilya Kovalchuk (Terrible contract)
Dany Heatley (Terrible person)
Jason Spezza (Not my type of centre)
Erik Karlsson (Great player, we have too many puck movers though)
P.K Subban (locker room problems)
Zdeno Chara (Tries to end careers)
Milan Lucic (Goalie killer)
Sedins (Highly skilled.... during the regular season)

To all the people mentioning Dany Heatley, there's a reason he has an A. (not sure if he still has it seeing as we have 4 As) His teammates have said he is nothing like the Ottawa and Atlanta locker room cancer.

As and fan, I'd say any franchise guys like Ovechkin, Malkin, etc. It would destroy all depth. I also wouldn't want lifetime contracts like Kovalchuk and Luongo.

Doesn't want lifetime contracts. Has Suter, Parise & Richards on his favourite teams.

Not meant to be insulting. Just something I found funny.

As an Oilers fan, I wouldn't want a player whose seen as "bratty". Gotta have people that set a good example for the kids. Also, no one super expensive cause depth is useful.

In the second place, he's saying simply that he doesn't think Stamkos would be a good fit with the system that the Blues have put into place, a system that led to them coming within a hair's breadth of setting a modern-day record for best defensive performance by a team.

That's it. Not a disparagement or an indictment of Stamkos at all. Take the fanboy glasses off.

At least one person gets it.

Gotta love hfboards. All last season Blues fans heard how the team was nothing but a product of the system. I say I don't want players that won't fit that system, (ya know, the one responsible for winning the Central, placing second in the West, nearly setting a modern era defensive record, and taking us to our first playoff series victory in a decade) and everyone thinks I'm overrating the importance of said system.

Even Ovechkin? At his salary? With his lack of defensive effort? On the Blues? Gotta strongly disagree.

Dany Heatley.

Guy mouths and mouths and mouths and he's just a humongous *****. At least Subban, Marchand, Ott, Kaleta, etc other people who mouth and back away at least fight the odd time, or more frequent. Heatley won't.

Habs don't need more sissy players who are overpaid and wear a sneeze guard for a shield. Might as well wear a full face mask.

I thought I was going to be defending Thomas Vanek in this thread. Guess everybody has forgotten about that contract.

I absolutely hate Eric Staal.

David Booth, Milan Lucic, Zdeno Chara and Jarko Ruuto are guys I wouldn't take.

I also think most of the Caps are overrated. I'd take Ovi if he didn't have that contract, but I wouldn't want Backstrom, Green or the recently departed Semin.

Ah... a P.K. vs P. Kane character bashing thread.

There are several players in the league who I don't like, but the only one I wouldn't want on my team for free is Bryzgalov.
