Double A just beat some guy down. Not sure what happened but it was pretty one sided.

I love Shultz's game, but it probably doesn't hurt playing with Eberle, Hall, and RNH while in the AHL. That's just too much skill for that level (not to mention Schultz being two years older than Toffoli)

Weird game by the monarchs. I watched the game in parts and it seemed the monarchs controlled the game until the end. The defense wasnt a strong point tonight.

Pathetic game! The team can't hold a lead at all! Period!

Lost track of how many games in a row this team has blown a 3rd period lead!!

What the hell is with Muzzin....Another turnover that lead to a goal.

People want this kid to replace Scuds ? Muzzin is getting schooled in the AHL.

4 straight games they had a lead in the 3rd period and 3 of those they lost.
For once they got off to a good start on the scoreboard and on the ice. Once again cant finish the deal. I dont think they have played a 60 minute game this season. If they have its been far to few.
Yes they are banged up and have some injuries, but there is no excuse for the poor play of late.

Right now he'd be hard pressed to replace Drewiske. I warned posters not to get too high on a kid when he has a long road ahead of him. He could turn out to be another Aaron Rome or a Joe Rullier. Lots of work ahead for Muzzin.

Muzzin's start to last season was a disaster as well. He finished the year strong, but man did he suck for the first few months of last year.

Muzzin has the tools, but boy is he playing himself out of the lineup lately.

The Monarchs had just an awful November, 4-9 Ouch....

Haven't been following the Monarchs much, but Toffoli's 10 goals in 18 games sure looks impressive.

Ugh... Watching those highlights and Deslauriers is about the most frustrating player ever... Makes that huge hit? Awesome. Gets caught standing aroud on the Falcons 4th goal? Meh, it happens. But what exactly was THAT on the 5th goal? A fake poke check? Really? You didn't think that as soon as you start to recover from that move the pass isn't going to be made? Starting to see that perhaps the Jack Johnson comparisons are spot on. Guy has all the confidence in the world to throw those big hits and try things like that fake poke check, but no common sense to just stick to the basics and make easy plays.

Monarchs finally hold on to a 3rd period lead beating the Falcons 2-1 on the back end of the home & home. Goals by King and Vey, Mannino gets the win in net!

Spot on,

The only saving grace is, Deslauriers is young. The kid can learn to play a simple game still.

Or he can choose to run around his own end like Jack.

Weal goes from scratch to centering the first line? (granted I think Vey's line might be the #1 now....)

Yeah, I think the top two lines are basically interchangeable.

0/5 on the PP already today (late second period) *sigh*.
And now it's penalty galore, jeez.

highlights from yesterday's 4-0 loss to the Portland Pirates.

The offensive despite being shutout was pretty good. Got some quality chances and the Pirates goalies just made the saves. Sometimes you gotta just give them credit.

On the other end it was the same old story. Defensive breakdowns & mistakes, such as Muzzin trying to pinch and get the puck he misses and it turns into a a breakaway goal for the Pirates. Also the team has been taking WAY too many penalties this season. It seems like the team plays half it's games on the penalty kill. Bodnarchuk is another guy who's been struggling after getting off to a great start!

Monarchs are currently in what is probably the hardest part of the schedule. They're in the middle of 5 straight weeks of 3 in 3's (3 games in 3 days )

Good news is that Andrei Loktionov and Andrew Campbell will both be back this friday for the game verse the Providence Bruins!

Other injury news is David Kolomatis is still out, and Stefan Legin will be out "a little while" according Morris with what appears to be a foot injury. Morris said he was in walking boot yesterday.

The Monarchs will get a little help on D ... they just signed Bryan Rodney

Monarchs Sign Rodney
The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have signed defenseman Bryan Rodney to an American Hockey League contract and have released defenseman Mike Matczak from his professional tryout agreement, announced Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough on Monday.

Rodney, 28, spent a majority of the 2011-12 season with the Syracuse Crunch recording five goals and 15 assists for 20 points and 10 penalty minutes in 41 games. The defenseman also spent time during the 2011-12 season with the Oklahoma City Barons registering a goal and nine assists for 10 points and 18 penalty minutes in 26 games. Rodney is a veteran of 34 National Hockey League games registering a goal and 12 assists for 13 points and 12 penalty minutes while playing for the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers. The London, Ontario native has played 306 American Hockey League games with the Hartford Wolfpack, Albany River Rats, Crunch and Barons tallying 30 goals and 136 assists for 166 points and 158 penalty minutes. Rodney is a two-time AHL All-Star (2010 and 2011).
