So much for the meeting. Daly is still there. Jacobs still there. No real helpful or encouraging owners other than that either.
Players that will be there are probably Prust, Biznasty, Ian White, Versteeg. And the other Fehr will probably be there.
Yeah, this meeting will be real helpful.
I love the sarcasm and I agree sadly...part of me was somewhat optimistic about this meeting thinking dolan may get in, but after seeing Jacobs name listed there any optimism I had is all gone. I am happy Toronto will be represented, but with Jacobs in the room I just don't see this going real well.

Where are the Leafs being represented in all of this?

I would have to believe they are in the same mindset as the rangers, get on the ice. They will lose money, probably more than the rangers if there is no season.

ahh...no worries....I wonder if the PA is getting the upper hand in this way if the players have not been announced yet, maybe they are still choosing which 6 based on the owners

I believe The purpose of the meeting is to make sure each side hears the needs of the other side without being filtered through Bettman and fehr.
If Dolan was there it made no difference. He wasn't going to negotiate a deal on behalf of anyone. We saw the mediators strike out. IMO, No one will be using this meeting to advance new ideas but hopefully, all will be listening to each other with the intent of reporting back as to what each side needs to move the process forward. If each side has a clear understanding of what needs to be done and is unwilling to move then a season cancelling move plus maybe decertification is the way to go.
Hopefully, we are past the point of threatening the other side to enhance our negotiating position is long past over?
how is it players and owners only if Daly is going to be there??
PA requested that one representative be there from each side and the NHL agreed. It's more of a meeting without Bettman and Fehr than it is players/owners only.

Hearing only six players expected to be allowed in #cba meeting Tues with owners but still uncomfirmed #NHLPA #NHL
Chipman wants to play. He wants to continue the momentum the Jets got last season.
Tanenbaum wants to play. The Leafs are too lucrative to just throw away all that money.
Burkle probably wants to play. Don't think he wants to burn a year off Sid and Geno's contracts.
No idea on the others other than Jacobs being an asshat.
Your points are exactly why this is a huge positive, besides the Jacobs comment. Big money teams.
Vinik is a good guy. I was excited to hear he was going. I can't imagine him being pro-lockout, especially with the renovations to the Forum and he's huge in the community so he has heart.

Lecavalier on Vinik participation: "I'm happy he's going. He's a guy who will listen, talk, have a conversation and see where things go"
"Mr. Vinik has done so much for this community, it's two different things," captain Vinny Lecavalier said. "I know for a fact not all the owners are involved in the process, so it never came to my mind to associate him with what's going on."
Said wing Marty St. Louis: "Because of everything he's done in the past few years, I have a hard time believing Mr. Vinik doesn't want to play."
It would be easy to say players are being careful because Vinik pays their salaries. But Vinik has built up some goodwill.
Unlike teams that reacted to the lockout by laying off employees and cutting salaries, Vinik did neither. That might change if the season is lost, but right now there are no such plans.

I will say it again. If Jacobs is there and Dolan is not ... the NHL has the upper hand. they keep their hardliner and union has no answer
Tim Panaccio @tpanotchCSN
why would NHLPA agree to a meeting where Jacobs was allowed and Dolan was not?
That was last night. Even the Flyers insider is indicating the influence Dolan would have on the players/owners meeting. But it just shows how ridiculous the NHL is. The hardliners have a stranglehold on these negotiations even though they are in the minority. Bettman is always going to be the one at fault for being manipulated by the few and not the majority.
The NHLPA had not designated the six players who would represent the union at the meeting as of early last night. Logistics were more of an issue for the union than the league given that the owners had previously been scheduled to fly into New York.
Dolan, of course, was already here. And he will be here on Wednesday for the Board meeting. Of course, there’s always the chance that Bettman might turn off the Ranger owner’s microphone.
I think we've all seen enough of AA's NHL games to know if he tried to pull that off here he would've been decked. Keep your head up kid, and have a great career in CBJ
