So I kind of like the Lupul for Watson+ trade. Wondering what the plus could be.

Leafs are looking for (among other things):
-Right handed defenseman who's good in their own end
-Third line winger with a good two-way game (shutdown player)

Can Nashville supply either of those?

We can argue his potential, but would you do Lupul+Grabo for Kesler+Ballard(cap) at TD Or Lupul+Grabo for Kesler+Luongo?

Not even close. Both offer are horrendus for Vanocuver. Lupul is an upcoming UFA and Grabo is a clear downgrade to Kesler.

Can't see Lupul being traded, other GMs will probably be worried about his injuries or that he was a one season wonder. But you're not gonna trade a guy that had one of the best scoring rates in the entire league, who had great chemistry with your franchise player, unless there's something good coming back.

Similarly, hard to see Grabo being traded unless it's for an upgrade at center, him being a threat on the 2nd line softens the blow of having Bozak as the 1st line center. Bozak-Connolly/Lombardi/Steckel/Kadri/McClement/etc. would be a terrible 1-2 punch down the middle.

I don't think you'll get 1 great player for both of them at the deadline. Rather, I think you would do better to deal them off to separate teams.

I think Lupul would get the better return.

On HF they might be worth a good return. But it the real world I would wager against it. GM's are way smarter then all of us, they can probaly check history and see Lupul was a one seaosn wonder, so why give up alot when his value is at its highest. Grabo would be worth the most of the two tho
