Yea he did say that, but who knows how much that actually played a part.

No offense to Varly, but whenever a player says that it always sounds like a poor excuse.

An arrow? Is this a translation mishap?

Edit: Never mind, I'm getting old. I can't keep up with the running jokes of you youngsters anymore apparently.

One of the KHL followers on the main board responded to my question about Varly. Looks like he is doing pretty well for himself. Can't view the video but I'm happy he's taking a step forward in his development during the lockout.

Hopefully his injury isn't too serious.

So according to that, he got hit in the head by Grabovski, and then later in the game some other guy fell on his knee and he hasn't been available since.

These are the types of "minor injuries" that worry me.

Varlamov finally made a comeback as Yaroslavl's starting goalie in a 4-1 win. 24 saves.

Just saw: Varmalov has a 14-8-2 3SO record with a sparkling .952SV% and 1.53GAA.

Didn't know his statistics is that good.

Hottest players back from Europe

3. Semyon Varlamov, Colorado Avalanche
Varlamov started to prove last season that he can be the durable, consistent No. 1 goaltender his skill set suggests he should be. Although he and the Avs fell short of the playoffs, his play in the KHL -- where his .946 save percentage was best among all netminders -- suggests he should be ready to get off to the fast start that will be so important to securing a postseason berth for the evolving Avs.
