For pretty much being swapped for Vlad Taresenko, he really can never live up to that.

However, He's still progressing and playing well.

This! He's a good skater but doesn't have the agility or speed to be elite. It will be hard for him to break through in that system

Playing defense is something that can be taught and Rundblad is already good at the stuff that is much harder to teach.
The guy is going to be good, but Ottawa had to make the deal. Turris was exactly what they needed and Karlsson made David expendable.

This is HF. We've all moved on from Rundblad to Ekblad. Come for the ride.

Okay buddy just because he hasn't contributed to your fantasy league doesn't mean there's no hope.

Id love him to light it up.... ill be holding onto him definately in my fantasy pool. This lockout is benefitting him i think by forcing him to spend the full year in AHL to get better

Who does everyone think will be better??? Rundblad or Vatanen??... both had HUGE offensive stats over in europe. Both now playing in AHL. I have Vatanen making more of an impact offensively in the NHL i think. Mostly because I prefer Vatanen's situation in Anaheim. Rundblad still has Yandle and Ekman-Larsen in front of him and also quite possibly Gormley.

Sometimes you need to have a few seasons in the AHL before the jump. Washington did this with Karl Alzner (although a defensive dman) and it worked out great. Lets the player develop confidence and round out their game. It's better to wait and let him develop then rush him. I think he will pan out to be a nice dman. 7 points in 8 games is great especially since the AHL has very good players due to the lockout

Still hope. The guy's only 22. Plenty of time for him to develop into a great player.

Can we get a Rundblad update from someone who has seen some games lately? His numbers look good but I am wondering about his overall game.

This is true. Rundblad is the perfect example for why you shouldn't judge a prospect by highlight reels and statistics. From his highlight reels he looked like a fast skating offensive defensemen with elite hands and dangling skills with a big slapper and strong wrist shot.

In reality he is a mediocre skater with an average slapshot, weak for a supposed potential top offensive blueliner. Although his wrist shot is quite good though. He still does have elite hands and dangling skills, but that doesn't translate well to the NHL level. He was a liability defensively in his time in Ottawa, but was physical. If he learns to play defense and improves his skating he can still be a good top 4 offensive defenseman. His hands are ridiculous and he moves the puck very well.

I don't think he'll ever be the elite offensive defenseman, Mike Green-type we thought he would be. He may be the type that just needs a little more time to adjust to the N.A game though. He showed flashes of brilliance in his time in a Sens jersey, if he can learn when to rush the puck and when to take risks on the blueline, he could be great.

Rundblad's potenital is still sky high. It's a question if he will be able to translate it to NHL ice. But so far he's doing well.

Of course, he is still a good prospect, he just isn't the hockey god he was made out to be.

Today's game broke a 4 game goal scoring streak. Plus/minus is much improved this year. He's developing very nicely.

There's a Portland Pirates thread in the Coyote forum.

I've seen him play. He has a fantastic shot and great offensive instincts. He's taken huge strides in his defensive game and is learning to rub guys out instead of giving the turnstile defence he was guilty of at times in the past. He's getting some shifts on the PK as well.

This is very good news.

I think most Sens fans want to see this guy become great, despite being a player we traded away. We saw brilliance from him on occasion and know how much potential he has.

Maloney is on record that Rundblad's upside was Sergei Zubov.
