You asked the wrong question. The right question to ask is who lines up at center ice after the Leafs score?

Now LeafsTV (on Bell) is crapping out, but it appears to be on the LeafsTV end of things.

Lol at the time I posted he only had 1 assist, but yeah he had a 3 assist night.

Someone said he was injured while others have been saying Eakins has him scratched so I'm not sure. Whatever the case, hopefully he remains in the line-up because clearly he's producing and playing well.

There are a few reasons why not much is said of Abbott.

For one, we only signed him late last season after his final season in college (where he was a finalist for whatever the award is called).

Also, he is a long shot to make the NHL because of his size. He is only 5'9 and only around 170 lbs. Kid's got sick hands though, and I love his game on the powerplay. He's also not very young at 24.

Finally, the third reason, is because he has barely played. He has been injured, and even when healthy, Eakins doesn't play him for some reason.

We'll see what happens though. He's making his name known now obviously, hopefully he keeps it up.

He started the year as a healthy scratch, when he got into the lineup he produced but then got hurt and missed the last little bit due to injury. Not sure when he was cleared to play again though.

Hobey Baker award. Rookie, needs to earn his keep which he is doing... This kid is money offensively.

Obviously size is a factor, but at 24 he's at the same age as Frattin yet currently producing at a better PPG while Frattin gets all the love.

1 goal in 14 AHL games maybe why?

If he's a playmaker, and looking at his stats last year in college (2 assists per goal) he won't be competing with Frattin anyway. He'd be competing with another playmaker who can't bring the bodywork that Frattin does.

Frattin has earned his love, abbott's barely got his feet wet. Also "intangibles" I believe is the word, regardless of the point totals.

It has more to do with last year he had no spot in a team that meshed and worked properly. As the saying goes, why fix something that's not broken. It was also another reason a new comer like Ashton didn't find much minutes.

If Abbot can play the year out at over a PPG, he might earn that chance to be a playmaker in the NHL ... at his size I'd think he'd be limited to the top 6 or a part-time player.

As I mentioned before the game yesterday, it was really filled with veteran players, so perhaps Eakins played it that way because of the 3 in 3, and it helped with Hamilton leading the way. If you check out the scoring Aucoin, Hamilton, Abbott being the youngest at 24 is not something for the future of the Leafs, but is a good minor league line.

Winning is still winning even if it is accomplished with career minor leaguers.(not assigning Abbott to that category he's just a rookie)
