Ponder is a Quinn level bust, not a Russell level. His arm strength limits the type of offense he can run and his decision making has not progressed. He has gotten worse.
Yes, his WRs are terrible. That has nothing to do with him under throwing open players by 5+ yards or chucking rainbows. Quality QBs make his WRs look better. He does the opposite because he can't fire the ball in tight.
He likely has a future as a backup or placeholder, but not at the top of the depth chart.
Vikings need to rebuild. They wasted two years reaching on Ponder, they can't afford to waste more. The search for a new qb has to start. May not be solved immediately, but it has to start.

Add to that the years they wasted on TJack. They need to go after Smith or someone else of that caliber if they want to get anywhere. They are wasting a hall of fame running back right now. Time for some serious changes.
I'd consider him the worst QB in the league. People have to remember that he is probably the most sheltered QB in the league. He's got the best RB in the game to take pressure off the passing game, and when he does pass, it's either a screen or checkdown to Harvin, or a short throw to Rudolph. The ball travels 3.8 yards through the air past the line of scrimmage on his average completion. And yet he still manages to screw this up and either misses a lot of open players or turn the ball over. Just watching him, even a lot of his short throws are way off, and even some completions he has puts his receivers in bad positions to advance the ball further.
Uh, didn't Minny know that they would be getting a horrendous QB when they drafted a Florida State QB?

No one answered this; what was a) Minnesota suppose to do. The FA market for QBs have been notoriously soft lately and QBs coming from the draft are a) too expensive or b) busts. So should they have kept Donovan McNabb?
