Isn't this the second year in a row where he found out about surgery a long while after the season already ended?

He's ruining my hope of him breaking the career strikeout record.

His career slugging percentage is through the roof at Fenway. I'm indifferent about the move because they're still not close to being a contender.

They should hope he retires at this point. They might get out of this horror show that way.

And if it wasn't confirmed before, this makes him completely untradable now.

Who plays 3rd?

Cash says he sees Nunez playing SS. Unless they give that guy they got from PIT last season? If he is still on the team.

But idk if Cash said that before or after A-Rod news.

That is what remains to be seen

McGhee was the dude from PIT, but hes pretty meh and a FA

I'm hoping they bring Chavez back, but what sucks is he isn't an everyday 3Bman anymore

I'd be fine with Chavez but I feel someone will outbid us.

He could be on his death bed and he wouldn't retire if he was under contract.

Do you blame the guy? He's due for some big bucks.

Not talking about this contract, just in general. Some players know when to quit. Some retire while under contract because they don't feel they can earn the money. Didn't Naslund do that?

A-Rod, IMO, will not retire until all 30 teams pass on him. I'm convinced he will play into his mid 40's if teams are willing to offer him any amount of money.

I was under the impression that if he retires, he still gets the money but it doesn't count against the payroll. I might be mistaken however.

This. A-Rod is so egotistical and self absorbed that he doesn't care how badly his play falls off or how old he is. If a team offers him a contract, he will accept and continue to pad those stats.

Reminds me of Jagr, if we can compare baseball players to hockey players. Always looking for the biggest money he can get.

If there was ever any doubt the last couple years, there is no longer - Bonds will still be the HR king for the next several years at least...probably longer as steroid-induced numbers continue to go down.

i bet a team struggling to pull in fans would take A-rod, if the Yankees take alot of the salary.

Haren to the Nationals - 1yr @ $13m

The #Yankees have met with Eric Chavez's agent Scott Leventhal here in Nashville & expressed an interest in bringing back the 3B.

Heard on the radio that Yankees were interested in Youkilis.

I know Yankee fans that said they would hate that guy no matter what team he was on, so we'll see about that.

I would love Youk on the Yankees. I just pray and it's good that they aren't interested in him apparently, but that they don't sign Bourn. He is NOT a very good player. I'm sorry. I'm thrilled for one that Granderson is currently occupying that center field spot.

While there have been incidents where Youk has acted like a baby, I've otherwise respected his gritty style of play and how he carries himself

I'd be upset if Grandy was moved in order to make room for other moves. I know Cashman and the Steinbrenners have a budget but they may need to go over by a little just until A-Rod is gone.
