Here's a look at what some nobodies on his very team are doing.
Derek Ryan has 16-23-39 in 27 games.
John Hughes has 12-25-37 in 27 games.
Derek Damon has 13-16-29 in 27 games.
Dman Mario Altmann has 9-18-27 in 27 games.

The league features some fun pond hockey-style play and some real barn burners, but it is by in large an ECHL level league and Grabner looks a bit like many NHLers in Europe right now - just playing to stay fit but by no means get hurt.

Just a note along the boards...
Well, a friend of mine did a trial as a dman with one of the best teams 2 seasons ago. Normally he is playing in the third tier in Sweden. And he made the team, and the team did very good in the playoffs.

With other words, Grabner has not been very impressive in that league. He should be killing that league.

The thing about playing overseas is nobody wants to get hurt or burn themselves out. Professional atheltes deal with alot of injuries over the years and I'm sure a lot of guys are using this time stay fresh for a season and just stay in shape.

I think people are putting a bit too much stock into these overseas numbers. Grabner has proven himself to be an NHLer. I don't see what dominating or not dominating a German league proves.

Or maybe we could sign Derek Ryan or John Hughes and see if they can duplicate Grabner's 34 goal season from 2 years ago.

Just announced-Ryan Strome, Griffin Reinhart and Adam Pelech have been invited to
Canada's WJC camp next week in Calgary.

Ville Pokka wil be on Finland. USA WJC roster to be announced Tuesday,Robbie Russo
has been hot of late and might have chance to make the team. Russo is tied for the lead in
defenseman scoring in the CCHA.

Its a central european league. Not german, austrian if anything.

Russo has a huge uphill battle. Tons of US D-Men. Reinhart and Pelech have uphill battles too. Strome is a definite, as is Pokka.

I really think this must be some kind of backlash for possibly not staying in Russia, he was a high draft choice in that league. On play alone, he should have made the Russian team. I don't think they have any player on their D that matches his talent, size and toughness.

Going to be tough for him but great to see Pelech get an invitation to camp.

Maybe.

I was thinking that maybe Pedan may have told them he would like to play for Lithuania in international competitions and therefore they have ignored him (despite playing for Russia in the past). Them completely ignoring him doesn't make much sense. Especially considering the kid could bolt for another national team in a millisecond.

I'm a big Pelech fan, I think he is one of the steals of the 2012 draft. I like him more than Pokka.

Personally I'd be shocked if he doesn't make the team. Considering the list of "locks" that came out, they are short on size and shut-down defenders. Reinhart is probably the best of the remaining bunch in that category, and when you factor in his size I think he's a pretty safe bet to make it. Especially considering there would be two open spots on the blue-line.

Even if you don't consider him a lock, I don't think it's an uphill battle at all. All he has to do is not play poorly at the camp and he should make the team.

ryan murray's injury gives reinhart a chance. before that, he would have been on the outside looking in. just one person's opinion...

Well, same here. I guess it's because we know nothing about Pokka.

He had a chance before Murray got hurt. Now he has a spot that is his to take. As long as he doesn't fall on his face, he'll be on the team.
