Homer opinion but how does Catenacci get an invite over Cousins?
Catenacci in my opinion is the better hockey player, but some might think differently. Also Cousins had some bad publicity early on this year so Canada might write him off kind of like Myles Bell, but either way with or without the prior problems they would be longshots to make it.
Also wondering why people are making lineups where strome and ritchie arent on the same line? Wouldnt it be best if they were to play together because im pretty sure Ritchie is benefiting from being on stromes line and they seem to have great chemistry which in turn would be helpful for Canada
Yup considering that Shinkaruk will probably get a spot if he doesn't get one this year and the emergence with the likes of Reinhart and Virtanen will bump those players out. Probably unlikely, but I can even seen Barzal getting an invite to the summer camp.
I hope Drouin and Mackinnon both have great camps and make the team. Also, I don't see RNH with the C. I think an A is more likely with Huberdeau or Hamilton as captain.
Of course you don't, lol (location: Chicoutimi, avatar: Charles Hudon).
I just changed my avatar for the WJC.
you're from Halifax and looks like the biggest Drouin fanboy here yet I don't tell you you overrate him.
You pencil him on the first line. If that's not overrating.
Hudon has proven many times he can be versatile and a very effective 3rd-4th liner and if needed could replace someone on the top 6. I think that this versatility will land him on this team.
Drouin can't play defensively so he is useless if not on a scoring line.
Biggest surprise to me was Ceci not getting invited haha... Glad Jets didn't pick him like some were expecting haha... I was hoping Lowry would have been invited to camp, but I was doubtful on him making the team.
I would love for TC to go away from the top6/bottom6 system since they have ridiculous depth this year and roll 3 scoring lines:
There will be one Red-White intrasquad game (Dec. 11) and two games against teams from Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) on Dec. 12 and 13. The CIS teams will be comprised of players from the University of Calgary, University of Alberta and Mount Royal University. In lieu of purchasing tickets to attend the game, fans will be asked to present their Club Hockey Canada card or make a donation to either a local food bank (dried goods) or the Hockey Canada Foundation. Practices will be open to the public, free of charge.
Canada’s National Junior Team will depart for Europe on Dec. 15, and play in two pre-competition games in Helsinki prior to the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Canada will play its first game of the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship on Boxing Day, Dec. 26 against Finland, a game that will be broadcast LIVE by TSN/RDS.
I don't think it would make sense if RNH was the captain. Despite being in junior hockey what is now over a year ago and being the same age, he has already played an entire season in the NHL so he isn't in the same situation as most of the guys on the team.
Who better to lead a group of junior players than the guy who's spent a year in an NHL locker room?
Drouin and Mackinnon on the same line for Canada would be so much fun. Here's to Drouin ripping up camp!
I feel as if Murphy and Harrington are getting invites because they were previously on the team. There are better players that did not get the call.
Harrington's the best shutdown defenseman in junior hockey, and with Murray going down, they'd be out of their minds to omit him. He fills a role they desperately need.
I wouldn't be surprised if he were named captain, to be honest. I'm sure HF would blow up just like it did when he was selected last year.

Thats like saying Connolly should have been captain last year over Jaden
From everything we have seen RNH is on the more quiet side and as someone earlier pointed out, doesnt really know any of these guys except for Dumba... its hard to drop a new guy in the dressing room (especially a guy who has been at a higher level) and have him become the instant leader

I don't understand why Harrington is being targeted by a few posters as someone who shouldn't be on the team. He had 4 points in 5 games last year with a plus 7 in a shutdown role. He probably impressed me as much as anyone last year. Very solid defensive game, which might be more important to Canada's success than any offense the other D bring to the team.
Hubredeau doesn't even deserve a letter after his play in the russia game last year. (took bad penalties and a misconduct)
I think your best player gets the C.
In Ebs' second year they only gave him an A, but it was clear to anyone watching that year that he was the only on-ice leader for Canada.
If you're down by a goal in the dying minutes, which player do you want out there more than anyone? If that player isn't your C then you chose the wrong captain.
Also, i expect magic to happen with Reilly and Nuge are out on the ice together.
Why should Hockey Canada declare a C at this point? It isn't even a prudent thought process. You've got a lot of talent, and a number of leaders. You have a camp for many reasons, including to see who is going to be a leader of this group. This will develop, and the C, and A's will reveal themselves on their own. To argue about it, when the players haven't even gone to camp is ridiculous. They'll sort it out.
