Doesnt really matter to me. The Wild need guys in Houston that can play the Style of game that they want the prospects to learn.

Over the course of the past couple seasons Fletch has quite obviously overhauled the D corps...moving from a stay at home type of player (Schultz, Zanon, etc.) and at the same time assembling a cadre of puck moving guys (Gilbert, Brodin, etc). Seems to be a very concerted effort.

I really like the direction that he has the D going in. I honestly didn't think CF would have turned it around this quick.

I'd say that's a good bet. Connelly is actually a year older than Noreau. Noreau also put up slightly better numbers and was a better goal scorer. So don't expect Connelly to make any NHL impact, if he ever makes it all.

Thread revival!

Haven't actually seen this guy play yet. Does anyone have a different opinion of him now that he's spent some time with Houston?

He's still an AHL all-star defenseman.

Kid's got 2-12-14pts/19gms and a +7 this season. Haven't watched him much but the stats look good.

From what I've seen he's very similar to Noreau, slightly undersized puck rusher who has lots of skill.

A lot of guys can't transfer their skills to the NHL, which is tough, but it's criminal when they don't even get a chance to prove themselves.

Hope this guy gets his chance, and does well.

For the record, I liked Maxim Noreau.

He was good in the AHL but was manhandled in every NHL appearance. Usually I would not use 6 games to make that statement but he was literally manhandled. Don't know if he was scared but he performed as bad as some of the early AHLers called up during the first few years of the Wild.

Some may think I am overrating Spurgeon but unless a small defenseman has the anticipation or hockey awareness of a Spurgeon or better, I don't think he will make it. In this case, I don't see Connelly's anticipation or hockey awareness to be that high in the defensive zone. He and Genoway have to work so hard along the boards and it doesn't get any easier at the next level.

Great AHLer. Don't see him making the big club consistently. Maxim Noreau 2.0 was pretty spot on.

Good call. I see alot of Noreau in Connelly. I like the way you think, you're a solid poster.

Would be glad to be proved wrong.
