I see alot of people counting out JC Lipon, and I don't blame you. It is hard too see hi on this team. Honestly, I saw first hand what he can do n the agitator role last year in the playoffs. During the Kamloops/Portland series he was instrumental in the comeback by Kamloops. He was able to get to Ty Rattie and not allow him to play the game he wanted in games 4 through 6. Now if you were to ask me right now will JC be on this team? I would say no. All I know is if He does make it, he will surprise many with his relentless work effort and ability to sore timely goals.

I'm not saying that is should be it was more in reply to:

I have to disagree about good tams and bad teams though... 1 player can not change the fortune of a team. I suggest you go read the Sudbary Wolves thread in the OHL forum to see the state of the team.

Offensively I'd have him ahead of Wotherspoon and Harrington(who is superior defensively) and only clearly ahead of a couple of superior offensive players in Murphy and Pouliot defensively.

There's seven other guys that I would say have a better combination of offense/defense than Corrado.

That's why I'd call him a fringe player.
Over these handful of times how many times did you watch Corrado & he was your main focus?

See I'm one of those people that will rely on advanced stats before I rely on someone's opinion with only a handful of games as sample size. I find they usually tend to have less bias then someone's opinion.

Can I assume the bold is a shot at myself? Thats how it comes off. I would hope its not with your position. I mean I don't really see anyone overhyping him... heck no one is really talking about him.

Glad to see everyone is putting Drouin in their final roster predictions. This tournament will be his coming out party. Hope he makes it.

My opinion, and take it with a grain of salt as I'm a Canucks fan, is Corrado is being looked over by posters on this board because he was a 5th round draft pick. Someone earlier stated about him being overhyped which I think is totally baseless, I mean dude was OHL player of the week last week, he's playing at an extremely high level at exactly the right time. Do I think he's a lock? No, he's not but he'll have a real good shot at making this team in my opinion.

Corrado has a decent shot at the 7th spot, has some good competition with Dumba, Sproul and a couple others vying for that final spot. Depends on what role the coaches are looking for with that 7th D man

Yeah I'm telling him all of that.

He said he has made his opinion from watching a handful of games of "these guys" but did not specifically say if he has watched Corrado & if so how many times he has. I'm saying I would rather trust advanced stats over someone's opinion on a handful of games.

but no lets go with your over the top exaggeration.

What chance does a guy like Colton Sissons have of making the team. He's the kind of guy that does nothing exceptional but plays in every scenerio well. He plays PP and PK for Kelowna, and as a Rockets season ticket holder, i've watched his development over the past couple years. He's a player who doesn't have a high ceiling in my opinion (3rd line checker tops) but is the kind of player that teams need to win.

Thoughts?

Every player invited has an opportunity to make the team. With that said, it is also quite apparent that players like Corrado, Wotherspoon, Sproul and even Pouliot will have to have extremely good camps to overcome the ridiculous amount of skill and depth that this country is lucky enough to have at every position.

While captains are generally more engaging guys, you can still be a successful captain even if you are quiet. You just have to lead by example.

I hate this idea that the C has any meaning in terms of team leadership, all it means is you are the guy on your team that talks to the referee. You know who deserves the C the most, the guy who can sweet talk the referee the best and kiss his ass.

Scheifele-RNH-Rattie ----> Elite playmaking in RHN, scoring in Rattie, and all around play with Scheifele
Huberdeau-Mackinnon-Drouin ----> Chemistry in SSS speaks for itself
Hudon-Strome-Ritchie ----> Hudon would compliment these two IceDog teammates well
Danault-Jenner-Wilson ----> Opposition's nightmare line to matchup against
Monahan ----> Most versatile player left out of the top 12

Reilly-Hamilton ----> Dynamite offense with good defensive capability
Harrington-Oullet ----> Shutdown pairing with proven chemistry
Murphy-Reinhart ----> Spott's offensive favourite paired with a big, physical defensive guy
Dumba ----> Not having the best year so far, but a team Canada favourite who would bring energy and physicality from the 7th spot

Subban ----> No brainer
Binnington ----> Matter of preference, but he'll have to win it over Brossoit
Brossoit ----> Could easily earn the backup spot with a strong camp

Murphy will only make it as the 7th defenseman PP specialist, and honestly with Reilly I don't think you need to have one. That being said, he plays for the coach/gm in the OHL so...

This is why you need a Schiefele type bigger body on the right wing.

RNH is very tough to knock off the puck once he has it, as you know, and his puck pursuit is unmatched IMO, but he isn't the guy to go into the corners and retrieve it.

Hopefully they can find a triggerman that gets hot because they will rack up a ton of points if that happens.
