It was the lead story for Burton's 11:25PM sports report to-nite as well, he's sticking to his story, there may be something to this, just watching the Lucic interview and also saw an interview today with serveral Minnesota players, Parise amd Cullen, their tone was much different than most recent statements from players, there seems to be an attitude of enough is enough, let's get a deal done.
Makes some sense, Fehr does work for the players, and he did say, that ultimately the players will decide when it's time to cut a deal, let's hope they have decided

He only gives certain reporters leads.

I can't get the stupid video to upload but WBZ has it on the front page.

This. He usually always tweets when the Giants are playing.

This could be a plant to create optimism by one side before the inevitable crash.

Exactly. These guys are usually so quick to shoot down these rumours. And not one of them has tweeted. I can't fully believe Burton, but I can't deny him until one of those guys tweets. Because unlike Eklund, Burton seems to care about reputability and maintaining a career.

Burton has to be pretty sure of himself, his job is most likely at stake.

He no doubt had to verify his source with his Producers, if they are making it the focus of there news casts and webpage.

Spoke too soon..

@drosennhl: Frustrating. I want to hate Griffin (refuse to call him RG3 unless someone calls me DR1), but he's damn good. Penalties, field goals. Gross.

I doubt that. He's a football guy and is tight with the Pats and pats ownership and WBZ broadcasts the Pats and has a weekly show on the Pats. WBZ wouldn't can him over a bad report on the B's. Bob Kraft would go to bat for him in a heartbeat.

Doubt it, the main reason he would have a source like this if true, would be because it stays private.....there is no way he would tell a soul

Here's some food for thought.

The one thing about which everyone here can agree is that NHL fans are angry. Regardless of which side they support, we've reached a position where nearly everyone is seriously wondering whether they want to be involved with this league anymore: the owners' supporters don't know if they can cheer for the players, and the players' supporters don't know if they want their money lining the owners' pockets. Many are saying it's too late to keep this lockout from causing catastrophic damage to the league. Now, if I were in Bettman or Fehr's position (and I'm not), and I was the devious type (which I might be), I'd definitely attempt to engineer an end to this thing that leaves both the players and owners as close to smelling like roses as they'll get, so as to entice those doubtful fans to return to - and spend money on - my league again.

... Like, say, announce a high-profile "players and owners only" meeting; set the thing up slowly and loudly so the fans' attention is fully on said meeting; broker a season-saving deal before said meeting even starts; then announce the deal a day or two after that, all the while saying the meeting was the catalyst and giving the players and owners all the credit.

Yeah right. What EXACTLY did he say? Basically, "This guy I talked to told me this thing might maybe be over soon possibly and we might actually maybe get some games in this season possibly".

He's not getting fired over that and the only reason it is getting attention is because we've finally reached the desperation point of the first Monday in December.

if anyone actually gave a crap about hockey, you might be right.

fact is that Burton could be dead wrong and no one would care outside of this board and the Canadian twittersphere.
