Um, no he's not. Pretty much fans are laughing at Young and his career and the only thing relevant about Young around here is his Steak House. The 2005 Championship was awesome. Hell, even Colt McCoy is talked about more than Vince Young and had a bigger impact on the community. Mack Brown is a legend and will be a legend for Texas for years to come like Darryl Royal.

Hell, on the talk shows around Texas early in the season they were talking if Brown had passed Royal in terms of legend for Texas.

Um no. Austin is about the only place where Vince Young is not a laughing stock.

You have to be delusional to think people in Austin actually like to hear "we own Texas" coming from Manhattan, Kansas.

Also, Texas' decline before Mack Brown had more to do with the demise of the SWC and the formation of the Big 12 has more to do with Texas' rise back to relevance than Mack Brown.

You're just reinforcing my point that Brown is a bad coach and/or talent evaluator.

If he was a better talent evaluator he wouldn't have passed on Luck or offered RG3 and Manziel as DBs, and if he was a better coach Gilbert, Ash, and Ca. McCoy probably wouldn't be so mediocre.

This is just with QBs. Frankly I don't want to waste any more of my time analyzing other Texas position players he passed on or didn't develop because anyone who thinks Mack Brown is still a good coach will never be convinced otherwise.

I don't know how any Texas fan would be content with the last 3 years

You still revere Brown and bow down to him even though the program has CLEARLY hit a snag and OU constantly runs roughshod all over y'all

As others have said, Texas QB's outside of Brown and Colt have been pretty mediocre. They need a lot more talent if they're going to compete in the B12

Agreed wholeheartedly. Mediocrity may very well be an improvement for my football program, the Illini, but that's pretty much inexcusable for a place with the history, resources, fanbase, recruiting ability, and expectations as Texas.

If he's not gone after this season, I will legitimately be surprised.

Phil Powers and DeLoss Dodds are not going to be content with 8-4 or 7-5 seasons after flexing their financial muscles so much over the past two years to get Texas its own tv network and year apart the Big XII.

Names I heard that Auburn had a lot of interest in as part of "A" group: Rich Rodriguez & Jim Mora.

Mack Brown is Texas' Lloyd Carr. Lloyd Carr had his loyalists til the end (he still has them today) but there was always a lot of skeptics/opponents as well.

The thing that bodes ill for Texas is that at Michigan the Carr situation led to a civil war that set the program back half a decade.

Steve True was so tired of people bashing Bielema that he said yesterday he hopes an SEC school hired him away from Wisconsin and now this.

Remember Bielema was upset at Urban Meyer for not recognizing. "gentlemen's agreements" on recruits. Good luck with that in SEC.

That said, if Bielema is still offended by Urban Meyer's SEC-style recruiting, he's going to hate the SEC West. Shark. Tank.

I don't think Bielema would or could have done anything to change that. Remember, Wisconsin, finished 3rd in the division this year. Maybe that's part of what made him leave though now he's at a place where they expect to win in a division with LSU and Bama.

Bielema to Arkansas is a lateral move. He hated the way Urban recruits here at Ohio State, he's going to be losing his mind with how the entire SEC recruits.

Um yeah, about that... MT @GreggDoyelCBS: Bielema in February: “We at the Big Ten don't want to be like the SEC - in any way, shape or form"
