Pretty massive if this happens. Canadian midfield is so **** (well, the entire team is frankly).

The report, posted late Sunday on Galarcep's website SoccerByIves.net, says RSL will send starting fullback Jamison Olave and striker Fabian Espindola to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for allocation money. RSL will also send midfielder and Canadian international Will Johnson to the Portland Timbers for more allocation money.

Nanchoff ended up being a horrible draft pick. Wasn't Will Bruin taken 2 spots later?

He's not actually gone yet. His option was declined but I believe WCFC still hold his rights until the re-entry draft on the 8th. In that time there is time there is a chance to negotiate a new deal. Thorrington was on a TON of money (can't remember the exact number 190k?) so he wasn't coming back on that figure one way or another. Whether the team still wants him or not is still to be seen.

Anyone know if Nanchoff was a GA player? If so, strange his deal would be turned down since he wouldn't count against the cap.

He was, but that ends this year so it would have counted for the cap as of March or whenever the season starts

Hopefully he gets picked up by Edmonton. If he does end up being worth while we can always throw him a contract at some point.

He is now. Picked up by D.C. United in the re-entry draft.

Vancouver grabbed Paulo Jr, formerly of Real Salt Lake.

Andy O'Brien training with Bolton Wanderers. Not a loan, won't see any match action.

I know everybody's wrapped up with hockey (rightfully so) but the Whitecaps at the draft trade their 10th and allocation money to TFC for TFC's 4th pick and select Kekuta Manneh.

With the 5th pick, they select Erik Hurtado.

I know absolutely nothing about these two (except that Hurtado looks like he's fresh off the Jersey shore), but it's nice to have two top picks to further stock our cupboard of prospects.

I was hoping they could pick up Bekker + Zavaletta but I think they made out pretty well considering TFC actually made a decent pick (though Bekker at 3 is pretty high).

Know nothing about these two picks, but Lalas made them sound exciting.

Bekker and Welchmann + allocation money are decent pick ups for TFC but for a draft they went in having the 1st and 3rd picks its pretty bad IMO

Not a lot of options on D, which could have been a focus, so probably a best-player-available situation.

Draft is becoming less and less important as homegrowns are being claimed around the league. Which is why I think what Toronto did today at the draft was silly. Those who enter the draft are the best NA players not brought through academies of MLS teams. Given this pool, you take the BPA (with consideration for team needs), not a guy based on his passport. You want to show commitment to your fans about Domestic players? Put some $$$ into your academy...
