Anyways I think Sweden will have good chance this U20 even without Klefbom and Brodin, since now expectations will be a bit lower which can relieve some pressure on reigning champions.

The IIHF rules are mostly made though to prevent smaller nations from getting semi-good players to represent them. Like the numerous amount of Canadians going to play in Europe with dual-citizenship.
Thats quite absurd in a way to not be eligable anywhere - maybe they should create a whole new team for "lost boys". So these cases makes for allowances, since as you state you want to avoid Canadians all over - like in table tennis where it's chinese, taiwanese, hongkong'ese and lots of exile chinese playing for all kinds of countries for the few europeans and south koreans to take on.

Brodin- Broken Collarbone

If you want to believe the president of the Swedish HF, there's a 75-80% chance Zibanejad will be released.. He's an idiot though, if he says 75% the chances are probably 5%.

Either way, if Hampus' play in Norfolk is any indication then Sweden isn't hopeless defensively.

That's a pretty strong top 6. Eager to get a better look at De La Rose. Want to see how he stacks up against other 2013 eligibles.

Yeah that top 6 can compete with anyone. Someone on defense not named Lindholm is going to have to step up big though.

Vikstrand will be your man.

Just ask Kopitar and Bobby Ryan.

Anybody know how far behing Erik Gustafsson ranks behind the selected defensemen? Also a short report on how he does with Djurgarden this season would be highly appreciated.

Edit: Forgot that is too old to participate

I find your comment on boring posters more boring than the original joke.

I would like to see these forward lines:

Wennberg-Karlsson-Arvidsson
Forsberg-Lindholm-Rakell
Collberg-Rask-Sörensen
De la Rose-Boyce-Görtz

Copied most of joe89's lineup.

Zibanejad saying he wants to play in the WJC, but is diplomatic about it.

"Of course I want to play in the WJC. But I'm in the middle here and listen and do what I am told".

Obviously he's isn't in a position to make demands with Ottawa, but I would have liked to have seen someone step up for him. His agent? The Swedish coach? Eric Lindros' parents?? Anyone? Ferris Bueller???

Who wouldn't want a guy back who just won gold with them the year before playing a large roll?

Yes you are right about that. The ones we have are all decent though, and hopefully somone CAN step up.

Vikstrand is going to be interesting to follow. 26games, 9g+8a in SEL-2 (allsvenskan) is very good. Not sure how good he is on defense, havent followed the talk around him enough.

Bengtsson I hope have learnt how to deal with Canadians.

Djuse is a solid, intelligent player for his age.

Of course though, the matureness of Brodin and Klefbom cannot be replaced.

Agreed, we have "good" defenders. Last year, we had great top defenders and the rest was good...

I want Sweden to win ofc, but our recent history in the WJC's show we need more than an average team to compete.

With that said, I've no idea how we stack up compared to other teams.

Landeskog just turned 19 a few weeks ago, right?

Anyhow, we lost our first defence pairing before the tournament even started.
This team is without a doubt worse than last year, but if one of our goalies stands on his head, who knows - we might reach the semis?

We should win our group. That really all I can demand from this team - and then fight for a bronze medal.

I think Wennberg will suprise many. Never been considered a big talent, but still outplaying Åberg in Djurgården and was tremendous in u-18
