Charles Sarault named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Sarnia Sting forward Charles Sarault is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 2 after recording eight points in three games including two goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.

After ending last week with his first career five-point game Saturday night against Peterborough, Sarault picked up right where he left off scoring two goals and adding three assists for his second career five-point game Friday night as second star of a 7-4 win over the Saginaw Spirit.  On Saturday he helped the Sting defeat the Petes 5-2 and set-up three goals recording his 32nd assist of the season to move into a tie for second in the OHL in that category.  The Sting were also victorious on Sunday with a 3-2 win over the Oshawa Generals.… read more

I've always been a fan of Sarault's. He's a smart player, good defensively, works hard, and is a very underrated playmaker. I thought Kingston gave up on him too early and didn't really give him a chance to shine in anything but a 3rd or 4th line role, so I'm glad to see him finding success in Sarnia now that he's actually being given quality ice time.

Is he the guy who's blind in one eye? Or is that someone else I'm thinking of?

Absolutely not true at all. Sarault was the better player of two
Great players last week. He was a beast at both ends of the week and was the direct reason why Gally and Boucher were able to pick up so many goals. Of his 6 assists last week, five of them were primary. He really does make it easier for Galchenyuk and Boucher. All three are awesome right now

You're thinking of Yves Bastien, I believe. Unless there's been a more recent example. But as far as I know, Sarault's got regular vision (though he is wearing glasses in his OHL profile picture).

He's overage, so I believe he can be signed by anyone if they want.

Though I don't know if he will be. He's on the small side, and while he's great at the OHL level, I don't know if his strengths are enough to allow him to succeed at the next level. At best, an organization might sign him to add depth to their AHL squad.

Sarault attended the Maple Leafs development camp this past summer and was slated to join the Montreal Canadiens in main training camp (until the lockout happened).

I believe he can be signed by anyone now that he has passed through two drafts and went unsigned.

He will definitely find a place.
