Agreed, we have "good" defenders. Last year, we had great top defenders and the rest was good...
I want Sweden to win ofc, but our recent history in the WJC's show we need more than an average team to compete.
With that said, I've no idea how we stack up compared to other teams.
There was a lot of talk last year of how bad our defense was. Klefbom was far from a lock, he did not look very good in FBK and had been injured. Nemeth had not been good and was called "The worst defenceman in the league" just before the WJC. Klingberg was called "The worst defenceman in SM-liiga" by the finns. The D is on paper as good as last year but it could have been incredible good without the injuries. The key to victory is for some of these guys to really step up and play their best hockey like many did last year.
I would also (if i has dual citizinship) definitely chose a country where he could be more sure of a spot and still play against the best, that a more uncertain future, unless I was very very good.
Ain't that kind of a loser mentality?
You play to win! specially with the talent he seems to have
That's ofc if he feels as much swede as danish. IMO you should play for the country you feel like you belong to, but if you can't decide then choose where you think you'll win
Just for fun, team next WJC (tournament will be in Sweden).
Filip Forsberg - Elias Lindholm - Alexander Wennberg
Nick Sörensen - William Nylander - Sebastian Collberg
André Burakovsky - Filip Sandberg - Jacob de la Rose
Daniel Zaar - Gustav Rydahl - Gustav Possler
Hampus Lindholm - Ludvig Byström
Robert Hägg - Rasmus Andersson
Calle Andersson - Linus Arnesson

There were people claiming William Karlsson was no lock last year, coming from Allsvenskan and that he was where he was in the scoring statistics purely because of Broc Little. To them, any player from Elitserien would've been better (Mannberg was named amongst others...).
Some people said that Filip Forsberg was going to be our BEST player before the 2012 tournament. Filip Forsberg was one of our worst players last year. Granted, he was young and there to learn aswell.
Fan opinions are always going to be split.
My view is that our defence looks worse this year. But like you say it's also about stepping up, and this year my view is that our defence is going to have to take an even greater one.
Forsberg and Hampus Lindholm are both ready for comebacks. Molin and Arvidsson and especially Lindholm looked really sharp yesterday and Görtz scored a beautiful goal. Many guys on the team have been good lately.

Nah, it's just because it's sad being a danish hockey fan losing a talented player when you don't have that many to choose from. Had I been swedish I would probably argue as you do about Nick Sø/örensens choice.......
It's pretty likely that his choice is based on which of the two countries he feel most connected to.

To be fair to Forsberg he was really dominant in the first few games but kind of dissapeared the longer the tournament went on and in the end he had practically no play time at all. To me there were other players who were supposed to be more productive but werent among those were certainly William Karlsson for instance. I dont really remember many saying he was supposed to be our BEST player in that tournament..
This year however it's Forsberg who should shine and certainly deliver the goods. There are no excuses this time around
I know this has probably been beaten to death, but can someone give me a short answer why RNH WAS released from AHL team and Zibanejad WASN'T?
I don't get it.
well you could start believing the conspiracy i've heard thrown around by some european fans. A NHL canadian team released a very important player to team Canada. A NHL canadian team did not release a very important player to team Sweden.....
