Okay, because I drafted a guy late in the first round who's already 70 overall, but I have no space for him so I sent him down for the year.

I also drafted a guy first overall, He's 19 from the WHL (I'm pretty sure) and he's 85 overall already. I'm about 5 games in and he has 5 goals and 3 assists? Anyway, tomorrow I'm going sim the year and see his growth, reset, and drop him down to the CHL, sim the year and post his growth in the NHL and the CHL.

My apologies... He's 20. I'm so disappointed... I was really curious to see how he would grow in the CHL at 85... I guess I'll never know.

Did anybody else have Curtis Lazar develop into an offensive monster?

Gotta love how whacky the stats are... 66 strength/balance while maxing out offensive stats? Ha. Did they even playtest the game?

Not to mention the 99 body checking for a playmaker coupled with only mid 60's strength.

Does anyone know what League Interest stands for in GM Connected scouting program? Does it stand for how motivated a player is to play?

I was wondering if anyone noticed how sean monahan has progressed in your leagues?... just wondering because in my league havent reached 2013 draft yet but he only has 3.5 stars I believe while the other projected top prospects have 4-4.5 stars and wanted to know if he progressed as well as some of the other top prospects

So in 2 seperate leagues I've had Gormley and Ryan Murray jump 4 points to 71 and 64 respectively after the first season. Can I expect a big jump from them in the following off season?

Thank you! I guess its assuming that as you cant place preferences on players until the drafting priority is set!

In GM Connected you mean?

I think most of the discussion here is about Be-A-GM. The progression engines appear to be very different.

I can tell you that Gormley moves to (I think) 77 for the 3rd season.

I would expect that Murray doesn't get a siginificant jump until 4-5.

You must mean Be-a-GM connected. In my offline GM game Murray jumped to 80 after year 1, then 87 after year 2 (despite getting injured about 47 times thru the year and only playing like 6 games )

Unrelated: Is there any way to find late-round gems in NHL13? Seems everyone after the first couple roun ds is junk (which explains why no CPU gm EVER wants to trade for a 4th-7th rd pick)

There is that part about the lack of late round gems, and also the fact that those picks are valued so low that they're essentially worthless without late round gems. I started playing NHL '12 on and off for the old potential system, at least those drafts seem to be interesting although I haven't gotten very far in any NHL '13 GM or GM connected because it seems so boring.

It still seems too random for me, I've had a guy put up 70+ points 4.5 starts and get 3 overall points, but someone who plays on the 3rd line 20 PTs was the ONLY player I've seen in 7 years get more than 3 overall points

Its sad that there are none. I cant even get a 4th liner(other than a tough guy) from the 4th round.

I really can't stand the randomness of player developement in this game. I used to love playing BGM, but I can't stand it now. I have guys with 4 star potentials and a "medium" likelyhood of reaching their potential who are jumping from low-70s to low-80s after one sesaon while guys I have 4.5 or 5 star potential's with a "high" likelyhood of reaching their potnetial who barely improve at all..

Not to mention, there's not way to control their athleticism, offensive ability or defensive ability.. Brandon Saad went from 85 deking to 97, in one season, but didn't improve in his passing or puck control attributes. Teuvo Teravainen's overall has gone up 2 points over 2 seasons but his offensive attributes have barely improved, if at all..

EA's old potential system was far better. It had it's problems, but it was far more accurate than their new system.

I think for 14 they should have an option at the start of beagm to change the potential system. Like either letters or stars

IMO, the star system is better, but it clearly has issues that need to be worked out. Some attributes never or barely increase while others increase by an insane amount.

The thing that bothers me the most is the new draft model. Removing the ability to draft high potential players in later rounds is just stupid. Picking up late round gems and drafting 1st round busts made BAGM drafts interesting.

The letter grade system was great when you got a guy who was like B/B/B, but when you got A/C/C-, you ended up with incredibly unrealistic results (especially since DFDs were the most often to get that it seemed )

I've yet to find anyone beyond the 3rd round who ended up being a "steal" -- or ended up being at all useful for that matter -- but I've had a number of 1st rounders end up being AHLers at best. Quite a few 4 star guys who ended up as 78-80 overalls that never put up respectable numbers at any level.
