not a good contract. victorino can't hit lefties to save his life.
that looks like a disaster.

This seems like only a decent idea if they trade Ellsbury for a lot and stick Victorino in CF.

Victorino is very overrated. I've thought this for the longest time. Looks like a bad contract but we shall see how it plays out.

13 million per year for a below-average defender on the wrong side of thirty who posted a 91 OPS+ last season? Yikes. Boston's not exactly having the best off-season to date.

Righties. And given that most pitchers are righties, that's a really bad trait.

Boston spending money on FA's but still won't get them out of the cellar
I think they've gone so far downhill they would really need a Herculean effort just to contend again
Their time is done

On the plus side, I have it on good authority that Victorino does not eat fried chicken.

But there are alternatives. Are there any L&L in Boston?

LOL I love big market teams. Dump your bad contracts and then go out a couple of months later and sign different players to bad contracts.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Indians’ offer to Victorino was 4 yrs, $44 million . Evidence of their flexibility. Victorino got $2M per yr more from #RedSox.

Good thing for the Indians that he tuned that down.
Does Victorino think he'll get more than 6 mil per after this contract expires?

Victorino is terrible. Have fun watching his weak, infield pop ups two or three times a game.

Keith Law said Victorino is a 4th OF and a platoon player. Terrible deal for the Sox.

At a minimum, you know the Sox scouted Victorino during the pre-blockbuster of 2012 period.
My question is: what the hell did they see in him?
.629 OPS and 29 XBH in almost 425 at bats against RHP.
Just an odd move.

So...trade A-Gon and Crawford so they could sign Napoli and Victorino?
