Perhaps they are playing poker. Jeremy Jacobs went all in and the PA players left in the game folded.

And now nobody can agree on a payout.

Long meetings are not BAD though, last time we had a lot of long meetings they did end up agreeing on Revenue sharing and other smaller contract details. So something positive did come from that.

They are talking about serious things and progress could be made by this whole meeting with the owners.

Even if this turns out disappointing, this gave me hope for a season again.

I missed hope.

Because one of these times they will come to an agreement and you don't want to miss it. I lurk here like it's my paid work.

Trust me, being without hope when it comes to this league is the better option of the two.

Strongly disagree. There's really 3 issues:

1) Firm linkage: NHL demands.
2) Make whole $'s: PA wants $180M+ more.
3) Contract terms: negotiable.

Seems pretty simple to me. Owners could say something like - "If we offer an extra $90M of makewhole, will you accept firm linkage and 5 year max contract length? All arbitration, UFA and ELC stay the same as they are currently."

It could be as simple as that from my perspective.

Then the community would "Own" the franchise. You'd still need a governor to represent the community, and they community would still be responsible for raising capital, paying the bills, making the executive decisions. In fact there are several ownership groups already in the NHL, which isn't really different than what you're suggesting.

Yes they are still meeting and reports are:

Rob Rossi ‏@RobRossi_Trib

Many in NY reporting small and large group talks during players-owners meeting. Much like a GMs meeting. #lockout #NHL #NHLPA

NHLPA holding a Charity game in Windsor on Saturday. Someone said it on twitter to Darren Dreger. Think he's retweeted it.

NHL should just cancel the rest of December games in case players think the best offer has yet to come.

I want the draft cancelled too.

Boring, considering they have been doing this the entire lockout.

That and just randomly showing up to minor hockey leagues practices.

@reporterchris: The owners and players have resumed their meeting after each side took time to talk amongst themselves.
