Nope. A 4 year deal at 10 mil/season for a 31 year old CF is not a good deal, regardless of what the Sox paid Victorino.

Pagan had his best overall year at the plate last year. I doubt he improves upon it or sustains it over the life of the contract.

Harang has been on the market for a while now if the previous rumors can be trusted. I'd have to think the Jays would be in on one of them. Probably not going to get a whole lot though.

Me personally, I'd do it if I were them. Could have the best OF in the entire league offensively and defensively.
Absolutely and twice on Sundays.

Simmons is a nice prospect, he really is.

Buy Justin Upton is a potential perennial MVP candidate who has in the past shown the ability to use all 5 tools in one season. Heyward and Upton^2 in the OF would be amazing. Especially because you have J-Upton and Heyward in the middle of your batting order for the next decade putting up some big numbers.

Justin Upton has drawn active interest from 3 teams today: Mariners, Rangers, Indians. @MLBONFOX

The Arizona Diamondbacks have constructed a four-team deal that's currently dormant. Would net them Asdrubal Cabrera, if it's revitalized.

Any guesses on the other 2 teams?

I think Victorino is a good pickup for a team with a lot of money.

But World Series? I think you're forgetting something.
It's called pitching, especially in the bullpen.

No, Granderson stinks.

Victorino is a very useful role player who also has 3 gold gloves.

If Cleveland is going to route of a full rebuild, which they should, I'd assume any of Carlos Santana, Choo, and Masterson could be available aswell.

Rays/Jays/LAD/TEX come to mind.

The giants needed a Cf. Gary Brown sucks, they were not going to pull a Rowand with Bourn so they paid the guy who contributed on winning a WS. It's simple. And Victorino getting 3/39 the day after pagan got 4/40 absolutely makes this deal look better. Pagan has had his 2 best years when playing almost the whole season. I think he can sustain it.

Cleveland offered Victorino 4 years/44 M. They aren't rebuilding.

Did they? Wow. Maybe a fall-back option if they can't get Choo re-signed.

They play in a winnable division so rebuilding wouldn't be a good move. They just need to add some key players and i think they contend.

In what world is Victorino a better player than Granderson?

Upton for Lee would be atrocious for the D-Backs.

A bunch of my Phillies fan friends are saying they wouldn't do it. I'm like are you serious right now?

A lot of them are saying keep Lee, and trade Ruf for Granderson.

If I'm Texas I'd trade Andrus or Profar to get Upton. You have 2 good SS, why not use one to acquire a superstar at a position of need?

Andrus by a country mile there.

Profar will be better than Upton.

I hope the Cubs are involved getting Bauer. I'd be guessing that ATL or Texas would be getting Justin.

Just thinking out loud, how about the Rays?

If it's true Cleveland is trying for Skaggs for Cabrera, say the Rays offer up Shields for Upton, maybe some other team offers up a veteran bat(not OF, what do they need a 3B I think?) for Bauer who doesn't seem to feature in Arizona's plans.

Of course I assume there would be other pieces involved, but in the end Arizona ends up with a 4 deep rotation: Shields-Hudson-Kennedy-Miley, a legitimate starting SS and another bat for Bauer.

Or something like that.

Well, I suppose they could. They don't seem like the most aggressive suitors though.
