If this ends, I won't be suprised. The NHL's golden boy and his owner were the ones that settled it all, and TSN will forever remind us that their golden boy was the one that solved the crisis and as Canadian citizens we should be forever indebted to him.
I read somewhere else that Pens ownership was in Sniders' camp and wanted to get a deal done sooner than later.
Snider's not even there. Burkle is known for his negotiating prowess though. He's tough but it comes with a level of respect for both sides during the process.

Yeah what really pushed them to ending the lockout was Crosby talking about going to Europe, avoiding the risk of injury to Crosby >>>>>> extending silly lockout squabble
The fact is that at the last two deadlines (to save first half of December games, then second half), progress and serious talks have been made. That proves both sides are now serious about ending the lockout. It wouldn't surprise me to see Jan 1st start date still but hard to imagine any later
@TGfireandice: Told there has been progress today, but still at delicate stage. Have had similar situations in past talks and it didn't pan out.
I seen this and dont really buy it from my perspective. I dont know who this guy is either.
When have this many legit reporters, said their was progress. I remember their were rumors during those marathon meetings it was a great sign, but shortly after legit reporters came out and said no...it was a huge waste of time, nothing was accomplished.
This is the first time during this lockout I actually have heard so many reporters say their was progress. Now im not saying i expect a deal, i just dont understand he said we have had similar situations. I have not seen good news really come out of any of these meetings.
I'd be interested to know if both sides are showing the same cautious optimism. I'm assuming that's the case since no report is specifying which side is reporting progress. I think most people saw Burkle as key to this discussion from the owners side but there's no way he could have mediated over 5 other owners. He had to have had some help in there. Curious to know how each owner approached the discussion, particularly Jacobs considering that there were owners in the room with him that are considered 'moderates'.

Agreed. And people on both sides reporting progress.
