with an offer like this we can start talking!

Rielly + Reimer

You become competitive and get Rielly

I thought the habs were going to put Gomez on waivers? might as well cut off the cancer before it spreads... further?

So you think by taking gomez off of our hands, you could fool us into giving you one of the top 5 goalies in the game.

You know what bothers me about that? It's actually not as bad as Higgins + McDonagh for Gomez.

But that's besides the point. I for one am not a big fan of Price. There would be other goalies I'd rather pay through the nose for.

Carey Price

Joe Colborne
Stuart Percy
Ben Scrivens
Cody Franson
Carl Gunnersson
2nd 2013

Tbh, I never think that Price will ever be traded to the leafs. I don't think that package would even entertain Montreal. It shouldn't either, Price is an elite goalie already at the age of 25. Why would Montreal trade Price? They wouldn't plain and simple. After price who does Montreal have waiting in the pipes if price was gone? Really no one i think, certainly no one of Prices caliber. I don't think they will trade price to anyone, but to the leafs? Heck no. Price is an elite goalie that i would love to have but to get him on the leafs would cost them dearly.

overpayment or not, there's no possible way the Habs are going to let their 25 y.o elite goalie who just signed for 6 years - go to one of their most hated rivals to start ****ing them 6+ times per year. not. going. to. happen.
and yes the Roy fiasco factors into this

Gardiner is the only really quality piece in there, maybe Kulemin but based on his stats last year doesn't look too good. I know you base the previous years stats as really important, because that's how you compared Luongo's value to other goalies. Curious what other goalies? Rask, I'm sure Boston won't ask for to much to flip him back to you guys

Toronto's a couple years too late. Halak was being shopped around by the Habs and this draft day Vokoun could've been had for a 6th round pick. Reimer would also need to come back since Budaj would be Montreal's starter. I still don't think any trades of this caliber would happen between two major rivals.

I'd prefer to go after, Rinne, Lundqvist, Halak or Quick.

are you aware of Rinne actual performance in the KHL ?

Maybe you would want to reconsider going for Rinne.

Rielly is a potential star D and MacKinnon/Barkov/Monohan/etc are potential star Cs.
Giving up a potential star D + potential star C + more for a star G is not a good idea

Apples and oranges.

We traded Roy when he was still elite. We traded Theodore when he had essentially fallen off the map and was a detriment to the team.

Toronto is one of the team who tried the hardest to find an Elite goalie...

They paid for Toskala. They acquired Raycroft, they acquired Giguere.

What if they didn't try?

Its easy to judge many years after the trade.

I just remember the media when we traded Theodore. They took their time to remember us the Roy trade.

Some journalist seemed really worry we did another big mistake.

Of course we all agree and knew there will never be another Roy and Theodore wasn't on the same level.

But still, it took guts to trade Theodore to Colorado.

What about the Halak trade? did it took guts after the Roy fiasco?

I think the leafs should be serious in the acquisitions they try for and pick up a Luongo. That way when it goes bad we can all laugh it until 2022.
