I just remember the media when we traded Theodore. They took their time to remember us the Roy trade.
Some journalist seemed really worry we did another big mistake.
Of course we all agree and knew there will never be another Roy and Theodore wasn't on the same level.
But still, it took guts to trade Theodore to Colorado.
What about the Halak trade? did it took guts after the Roy fiasco?
Probably some rogue francophone journalist who has a blind love for francophone players in general and ignores anything else.
NOTE: That is not a shot at most francophone journalists, or francophones in general, just a small, vocal minority who place more importance on where a player is from over his actual skill level.
The only similarity between Roy trade and Theodore trade was that it was with Colorado. Nothing else. Theodore was pretty much useless when we dealt him. There was little, if any risk involved, considering we got a goalie back who was virtually in the same boat as Theodore.

Montreal won't trade Price, he's the cornerstone that we are building the franchise with from the back out... Reilly hasn't proven anything yet so although he may be good, we don't know how he'll be at the NHL level.
Who's going to play net for Montreal if Price is gone? It's not like there is huge goaltending depth in the franchise.

Getting Price solidifies that starter position for AT LEAST a decade.
The Leafs would not pick top 3 in 2013 and 2014 with Price in the nets.

To make a short explanation...Its like a lottery ticket but with odds i estimate in my favor. I would rather pay 100$ for 3 tickets with 50% chance to win 80$ (120$ expectation) than keeping a "proven" 100$.

As i dont expect Montreal to fight for the playoff, even with Price...
i dont mind giving Reimer another shoot, i see no reason to give up on him yet while sharing the goal with Budaj. I would also like to give Desjardins a shoot if there is an opportunity.
