If a deal gets done soon you bet your ass they will.

Marty is going to have to play a huge role and we're going to see a heavier amount of bumps and bruises injuries... Especially the way the Rangers play under Torts.

I agree. The last thing a team with no depth needs is a jam packed schedule of 61 games.

Awards:
They can do 61 games. They'll have a late finish to the season, but they'll do it.

Well...hopefully having Nash reduces the need to sacrifice AS much. Hopefully we won't be involved in as many close games. Hopefully we can open up our leads a bit.

That was the whole point to getting Nash. Adding another legit scoring threat.

Less pressure on our top four defense and Henrik.

Canadian businesses near NHL arenas are taking a hit because of the lockout.

Quote:
According to a leading credit and debit card processor, spending is down more than 11 percent from a year ago on game day.

The report by Moneris found that business is off nearly 35 percent for bars near arenas in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.

Restaurants are taking a nearly 11 percent hit, with fast-food outlets down almost 7 percent compared to 2011. Edmonton is facing the largest impact, a 27 percent plunge. Spending near Montreal's Bell Centre is down more than 21 percent, with a 17 percent drop in business near Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

that makes zero sense to me...

if there was no lockout going on, as of today the rangers would have 59 games left. if a deal gets done this week followed by a week for camp, you push the playoffs back 2 weeks and then have to 'squeeze' in a whole 2 games to get to 61 in the same time frame.

optimistic view is that 100% of revenue for 61 games is the best news so far that the owners will want to make a deal now...

pessimistic view is that i thought the same thing about them making a deal before the winter classic because that makes so much $$.

Yeah, that's why I was hoping for a 48 game season or so.

In 1995 they season went from January 20 to May 3 and was 48 games. That's 103 day (2.15 days per game).

The playoffs ran from May 6 to June 24.

If a season started, say Dec 21 (which is optimistic) and ran until May 3 again that would be 133 days. 61 games in 133 days is 2.18 days per game, so I guess its realistic.

If they do eliminate interconference games, the PA has to do the humane thing and allow realignment for Winnipeg's sake. 61 games in 133 days with those miles would be cruel and unusual.

I think it should be conference games only in a shortened season. The games should have more weight.

As per @DamoSpin , Great news as NHL and PA put aside differences to continue Senior Player Benefits. $2 Million aside for game's greats!

Depth will be EXTREMELY important in a season like this. Players like Newbury, Kolarik, McIlrath, Thomas, Jean, Hrivik, Haley, Gilroy will most likely see NYC quite a bit. Not only due to injuries but also to give players days off.

If the season is started, and I believe it will be, people will be extremely happy the Rangers brought in Gilroy. If he can play 20-25 games, it will help a lot

Sirius radio just got done blowing Crosby. 'Wins the cup, scores game winner in ot in gold medal game, and now this...next project is to help lindsay lohan.'

Of course it played out this way.

The reporter they have on Sirius right now (Puck Daddy) just said he strongly believes there is a deal in place already for the Leafs to acquire Roberto Luongo. He was pretty adamant about it.

He also talked about how the Fer brothers have been consistent throughout in how they saw this playing out. He said the script has been identical to the NBA and NFL lockouts, same law firm involved. He sounded very optimistic as opposed to how he felt in the past.

They haven't though. He's a UFA the moment the lockout ends.

I'm actually happy we have Gilroy.

Do you think the NHL will extend the carrying roster by a few players for the shortened season?

I think Kolarik, Haley, Gilroy will be the three extras depending on how many teams may be allowed to carry.

This whole thing is insulting to the fans. I mean at the end of the day, both the League and the Players work for us, right? We don't go to games, watch on tv, buy the gear, etc., there is no NHL. But when have they ever really cared about us? Sad that it's all just a case of unrequited love. If they had any respect for us at all they would have actually tried to make some real progress before the season was scheduled to start.
