Steve Fehr and Daly addressing the media together. That's huge IMO.

Hopefully one of the major progressions during today's meetings was "we'll get rid of Fehr if you guys get rid of Bettman"

Sounds like all we needed were some owners who came in and wanted to talk to the players like they're adults.

Now, tell Jacobs to GTFO

Matt read is flying home after Saturdays game. Claude Giroux is also skating in Ottawa today. With Read and some other players "reportedly" coming back home, I think they might be closer than we are being let on.

Ed Snider is alone on his way to BOG meetings.

Well Giroux was back in NA because of his neck issue anyway. I did enjoy Read coming back. Sestito quit his league as well (but it was American anyway).

I'm very very cautiously optimistic.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Someone (Kypreos?) reported on Twitter that coaches have started calling players. While people are getting optimistic about it, I'm sure it's just going like this:

"Hi Claude, it's Peter. I just wanted to call and wish you a Merry Christmas since I won't be seeing you at all this year. Bye."

After reading this, I'd have to say that they are at least close to getting a deal done. Whether it happens or not is TBD. Hoping for the best!!

Well, hopefully this is more than just a tease. I'll get excited when there is an offer made.

throughout these proceedings,

has anyone else ever felt it's like the scene from Boondock Saints when Rocco is on top of the guy, using the cue ball to beat him to death.

FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY!

just sorta how I feel. Though I'm hoping today brings good news.

I will only get excited that after said offer is made, the other side doesn't just turn their backs and go home for another few weeks complaining about awful the offer was.

These are very tense moments. We need to see how the NHL responds to this offer. Hopefully positively.

Ping pong match going on right now. Both sides meet, leave to meet in smaller groups, and then meet again. Back and forth.

Rumor: Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reports some coaches and GMs have contacted players overseas to advise them of an imminent return to America

Beef you are fighting the wrong fight out there man. Your arguments make the most sense, and then people reply with just nonsense. You should have taken your own advice and stuck with the business board thread.

Oh CBA update. They are enjoying dinner right now, but will reconvene some time tonight. NHL talked about 10 year deal with opt clause after 8 years. Would be excellent if they agree to a longer deal.
