If the good relations between Crosby, who is in the room, and Burkle are the reason they were able to get past the animosity, then he deserves the praise.

i think ppl here are being naive and haters for no reason.
If Crosby really helped, that's great and he deserves credit. However the reports on here from the weekend essentially calling this a PR session have me skeptical that this is anything more than yet another NHL marketing stunt to prop up their golden boy.

I 2nd that. Then the refs will always call a penalty if you touch him during the game
there is no way the NHL is gonna lose 25% of their sponsorship money over 7 games. they'll squeeze em in.
agree 100% that if a deal is in place this week they will find a way to have 61 games to get the $$...the question is that motivation enough to get a deal done this week.
I'm a little confused by those who are saying it's a PR stunt. Do you mean this whole thing with Crosby is a PR stunt? Or all these meetings, and everything that's going on?
WHO CARES? I applaud it. They're trying to end the lockout. If I was in their position and I thought I could help get some traction and put the game back on the ice, I would be willing to take a whole lot of fines for 'breaking the rules'. I mean, imagine they have a deal in place and then Bettman says "we can't sign this deal because Penguins players and ownership broke some rules that led to this deal being proposed, so it's void". Why play the bitter "oh the Pens get away with it" card when it's for the better for EVERY fan of hockey?
Who cares? Current Ranger players could have been talking for months, but they weren't allowed to. How the **** does that make sense? How come this player-owner meeting had to be approved by both sides to happen if it was already allowed? They could have just done this weeks ago.
Sorry, but that's ********.

Nick Kyperos said coaches have called players telling them to prepare for imminent return
This seems weird...I mean, maybe the players and owners agreed it would be OK for coaches to do that, but otherwise I think that at least violates some league directives about the lockout
Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie
If/when this is settled hopefully everyone will recognize need for reasonable length camp to protect against injury even if means fewer gms
