Big deal.
The internet is more prominent is eastern europe and Russian than North America.
Even the poorest person has internet.

Looks like yak missed morning skate before his game. And instead of getting out and running with his hockey bag in the snow like any real athlete would have he just opened his phone and sent a tweet about it. This kid needs a real wakeup call... and fast.

The bigger question here is: who still uses ICQ?

He said he was stuck in traffic unless you want him to get out of the car and run to the rink.

He said he was stuck in traffic. A tweet takes 4 secs to write.

I know he was stuck in traffic, also I said I wanted him to run to the rink haha...Can you guys really not detect even a little sarcasm in that post? Does the smiley need to be used every time?

this is probably a time you get to see Yakupov's fitness. Flew to Canada to play in the super series then back to continue his KHL season.

Assuming the lockout is not solved in time, what should our expectations for Yakupov be in the WJC?

Well judging fromt he Subway series the Russian team didn't seem to utilize him well. I would bet he will light up some bad teams but be in tough against Canada and the sweeds ect... He will look awesome. It will be a fun tournament to watch, it could easily be that Nuge and Yaks are the two best players in the tourny.

The Russian WJC team will be coached by the same guy who coached the subway series team I believe.
However, I think we'll see more of the Russian team that played in game #2 against the WHL than the hedged defensive team from the first 5 games.

I hope he lets Yak do his thing and play with Grigorenko.

Yakupov and Grigorenko did not look good together when they played Canada earlier this year. I don't think they'll try them together again.

Other than Grigorenko who would be a play making C for Yaks to play with?
I didn't think he meshed too well with Kochlachev either.

Yakupov needs Hemsky... two players that are seemingly difficult to play with... should be a match made in heaven.

Uh, didn't he have his most productive game against Canada at last year's WJC, to the tune of four assists? He will be dangerous against every team, but I'd hope the Russian coach tries a little harder to find the right line mates for him. Grigs is not the answer, and Khoklachev wasn't much better. I'd prefer to see him with the Nichushkin kid.

The KHL website shows Yakupov got 5 mins and a game misconduct for elbowing. Maybe he caught word of Bettman making an announcement at 1pm and wanted the first available flight back

I realize that elbows to the head are very dangerous but part of me likes to know that Yakupov has it in him to line someone up and deliver one.

Yakpuov has shown he is physical by his play in junior. I don't think he's averse to throwing his weight around. In the Oilers top 6 he would already be the most physical of the group... admittedly that's a pretty soft top 6.
