There are quite a few mods for NHL 2004 that are still updated (the modern NHL mod, the 96/97 NHL mod, the AHL and European mods, etc).
So there's finally a CHL mod in development. EA of course uses CHL in their newer games now but the rosters I find suck and are hard to customize and you can't do things like customize jerseys either (plus I always get bored of the EA games after a bit, enjoy NHL 2004 a bit more cos it feels a bit more challenging).
Anyways, main thing about this is that the rosters can be completely user customized. What would be some good resources for this in terms of figuring out who the break-out players will be, what lineups will look like next season, etc.
Hey guys!!
Sorry for bumping an old thread, but my name is Nick (also known as The Cheese), and I am the guy working on this mod for NHL 2004.
I do owe a ton of thanks to this community, especially its CHL-specific sections. I've been jumping back and forth between rosters and the graphical aspect of the mod, and whenever I needed help for rosters (player ratings, line combos, etc.) I've come here to see what has been discussed.
Thanks QuietCompany for the discovering my project (I'd never thought anyone would see it outside the Rebuilt forum), and I hope you enjoy the previews
(Please keep in mind, everything is still a work in progress)
Thanks man!
Its coming along well, I'm focusing at a league at a time, so I have 12 OHL team uniforms completed. I have rosters done for Brampton, Barrie, Belleville, Ottawa and Sudbury, as well as the player portraits for those teams.
I also have people working on cyberfaces (the faces that each player has), and accurate goalie equipment. Above, Malcolm Subban has his own face and equipment (stick is temporary and the mask is custom Belleville Bulls mask). Thanks for the kind words and for showing interest. I'll be sure to post more screens once I have more done
Its a bit complicated if you don't know about the game.
NHL 2004 has Dynasty mode included, but it only works best with 30 teams. Since the WHL (which consists of 22 teams) is overwriting the NHL, Dynasty mode is being removed from the game. It makes things less complicated with the user.
There won't be any sort of draft in the game (that includes fantasy drafts), since only season mode will be available. Once new players are drafted, they'll be created with monthly roster updates.
Yeah I agree, but the only way it would really work well. I find myself only playing the first 2 years or so of a dynasty, so in my case it wouldn't matter much. But I'm still looking forward to the release of the game. I'm going to release the OHL, then WHL. then the OMJHL for testing, then all together for a full release.

Can someone redirect me on how to actually get the mod? and be able to put it on the NHL 2004 disc? New to this stuff... thanks.
Its still a work in progress, it hasn't been released yet.
As well, you don't actually need to put it onto the disk, it just overwrites the currently installed files.
Right now, I have no definite timeline of when things will be finished. These take alot of time, more than meets the eye, as well my work time varies during the week. I'll post as many screens and updates as I can
Brampton players wear green helmets both home and away, and while I loved Jake Smith wearing the brown pads he has gotten a new pair of white ones with green and yellow stripes, very similar to Matej Machovsky's.
Though I must say this all looks awesome, lots of dedication going into this I see, fantastic job.
I've been pretty pissed at the fact NHL 13 has not updated the CHL rosters, its not like they have NHL rosters to update.
This is actually the coolest thing ever, however I will say I am disappointed there won't be a dynasty mode as NHL 04 has IMO the greatest dynasty mode ever.

I agree, a CHL Dynasty would be awesome, but a few things would really press it down;
-Since the WHL has 22 teams, 8 would have to be removed from the schedule. Even though the teams won't be scheduled to play, they'll still sign players, make trades, draft players, etc.
-You'd have to code the interface so that players be removed from contention when they reach the certain age, as well the draft pool will be much larger than a normal NHL dynasty (20 years worth of Rookies, WOW!)
I myself only see me playing Dynasty for a maximum of 3-4 years tops, so it wouldn't benefit me personally. Thats just my preference though.
