Looks like owners are looking at PA's most recent proposal. Will have to wait and see what they make of it. Crucial at this point. #NHL

This honestly feels like late in the third period of a playoff game down 2-1

I'm just waiting to here how the PA sent the same proposal as their first one, and yesterday was a total waist. I really really hope that does not happen, all I want for christmas is to see Schultz lose his 2 front teeth.

I guess they went to caucus after getting the proposal.
Wha...

Both sides were in the room for 10 minutes before the owners went back in the room to caucus? Did he mean that owners left the room to caucus after 10 minutes?

If the NHLPA presented an offer, it's not surprising at all that they'd leave to talk about it shortly thereafter.

The fact there is so much optimism surrounding yesterdays meetings, and the leaks that coaches were calling players etc etc tells me that the owners must have had some idea as to what the NHLPA was going to propose.. at least on the big stuff. I doubt there is anything overly surprising in there that would halt negotiations at this point.

I hope anyway.

Just back from work... How long has the NHL been in their own meeting with the NHLPA proposal?

If the NHLPA blows this proposal, then the owners need to go nuclear. Announce the cancellation of the entire thing tonight. Don't give them any more leverage. Either we can get this done or not. PLEASE.

I thought I read somewhere today that Bettman has been sitting on an offer/counteroffer waiting to present it after the PA makes a proposal. But I could be totally wrong.

I think if the PA proposed linkage and 50-50 the rest will be taken care of relatively easily.

Brilliant move By Bettman and the NHL. They have removed the NHLPA's best negotiator in Fehr also made him look like an obstructive person.

I mean seriously everyone hates Bettman anyway, and he don't care. So why does he need to be there anyway ?

But Fehr is known to be a shrewd person, so the NHL just made a small gesture, and the players bought it hook line and sinker.

Now the moderate owners/players get too look like Heroes that saved the season.

Fehr/Bettman look like idiots. But Bettman doesn't care he answers to the owners.

If they truly made traction in talks yesterday, this proposal shouldn't be far off...if we've been fed good information. I wouldn't expect them to take it as it is...I'm sure the league will want something done to it. That's what bargaining is...

Players are waiting for NHL to respond to proposal. This presumably will tell them how far owners are really willing to bend.

as @aaronward_nhl reports, the union made a proposal this afternoon. How it is received by NHL is PARAMOUNT toward good vibes of progress

it sounds like the PA made some verbal agreements yesterday. Lets see if they put it on paper.
