Mets should make a run at Saltalamacchia. Red Sox are overloaded with catchers now that they signed Napoli.
They signed him to play 1st base. Doubt they are going to trade Salty at this point in time, unless Lavarnway is 100% going to be the guy. If there is a team to get a catcher from, it is Toronto. D'Arnoud, Arencibia, Buck, and they claimed Eli Whiteside today. They are going to move a catcher and possibly a piece to improve the rotation. JP is most likely to be traded. D'Arnoud is going to take over for him. It's possible they trade Buck, but my guess is they want a vet to work with whoever they keep of the two. Whiteside is insurance for injury. In the AL, they can carry a third catcher most of the time.
I like looking at Ross or Ludwick for the RF spot. Duda is the everyday LF. Find someone to play center instead of putting all the chip in the Kirk in centerfield. No opposed to Torres coming back cheaper, but my guess is they will look somewhere else for a CF to pressure Kirk or to play incase he does not perform.
Get some BP arms and a couple solid bench players and this team could be a good team next year. Ike, Wright, Murph, Tejada, and Duda not too bad imo. Add some pieces to that like Ludwick, Ross, Arencibia, D'Arnoud, and Kirk and the lineup looks solid.

That's what it's looking like.
1) I hope they trade Granderson
2) I hope the sign Ichiro
3) I hope they play Nunez everyday somewhere
4) I hope they just let the catcher situation play itself out. They won't.
I am in favor of them making moves to get younger and more athletic (Ichiro is more athletic than most of MLB players).

A good young prospect (preferably a position player) who is close to ready +
I would be totally fine going into next season with Ross/Ludwick + Gardner + Ichiro in the outfield.
I am not a fan of Granderson and his home-run or nothing swing. They need a multi-faceted offense and when Texeira, Arod and Granderson all do the same thing they become easy pickings for a good pitcher.
Would seriously consider packaging Granderson with Hughes. I'm sure they could get a really nice ML ready prospect. Yankees don't plan on resigning neither.

any team is easy pickings for a good pitcher.
thats why pitching is so damn important.
The team went cold at the wrong time. It happens. Yanks are gonna have the worst offensive OF in all of baseball with that kinda makeup.

Don't get all the Granderson hate. Sometimes his game can be less than aesthetically pleasing. But in the past two seasons he's hit 40 HRs while being top 10 in the league in walks and pitches per plate appearance. He would be an elite defensive left fielder, too. He obviously strikes out an awful lot, but I'm not one who's too bothered by strike outs (as opposed to other outs). He also grounded into a ridiculously low 5 double plays this season -- which is on line with his career average.

You don't win in the postseason with guys like granderson. He's Adam Dunn with some speed.
Don't think the Yanks are going to be able to trade Granderson. They can't afford to lose 199 RBI and 67 HRs between Granderson and Swisher. And trading Granderson seemingly adds another hole to a team that already has on the OF, 3rd and C.
After remaining quiet on the free-agent front for the first few days of the winter meetings, the New York Yankees made some noise on the last day with a one-year, $12 million offer to third baseman Kevin Youkilis, sources said.
