Well either way he's gonna be their number 1 guy so he at the least has a chance to show everyone why he deserves to be picked as high as he was.
I think Gibson is still a lock to be named to the preliminary roster despite being injured and could be cut later if it's too serious. Kerdiles? I don't know. There have been better prospects cut before for no good reason.
I don't know but they could use the content I'm sure....
Games are starting at awful times (for NA fans) though so everything would likely be tape delayed extensively anyways.
Since they are covering some college games I can hope they might try to pick up this tournament. I'll take tape delayed. Just please give it to me on a TV and not a computer.
Duchene is joined on Vastra Frolunda by NHLers past and present Viktor Stahlberg, Fabian Brunnstrom, Joel Lundqvist, Fredrik Sjostrom, Christian Backman and P.J. Axelsson. That’s a pretty solid talent stockpile, but Frolunda was below .500 in eighth place in the 12-team league. In other words, the Swedish League might lack in big names but it definitely rates with the KHL and AHL in overall quality.
That's about the strangest things I've read in a while. First of all Brunnstrom, Sjostrom and Axelsson are far from great Elitserien forwards. In fact they're bottom-six players. Secondly, how do you rate the league depth based on how a team with former NHLers does in the standings? Key word being former. The game is being played vastly different in Europe.
The SEL depth is actually pretty decent, there are no plain bad hockey players for the most part. Most of the depth are good at playing destructive and not constructive hockey, however. On the other hand it has nothing on the KHL. Even without the lockout, the KHL has the top Russian, Finnish, Czech and Latvian players. Even a good amount of the best Swedes in Europe play there..
So I guess Gibson is good to go according to Gilles. I'm trying to find the official source (found it in the USA roster thread). Hope Kerdiles makes the camp too, though I don't know why he wouldn't be there (at least at camp).

With the lockout, I'd probably agree that the AHL is the 2nd best league currently behind the NHL. But heck, the SEL doesn't even have NHL'ers, except for Modo (Steen), Frolunda (Duchene) and Brynas (Franson) who ignored an agreement between the clubs. Duchene is soon gone from the league too though.
According to team USA's GM, Kerdiles hasn't been ruled out to make the WJC team. He will continue to be evaluated and if they feel he's ready he will be added. The quote is in the 2013 USA WJC thread. Don't feel like retrieving it.
I did too, but we're the Ducks. This **** has been happening for the last few years.
With those rankings, I wouldn't be surprised if Lindholm and Gibson still haven't cracked their top 50 list.
Gibson might have a shot at the Spring top 50 rankings if he plays like he has in Kitchener for the USA. He's slipped under the radar but this is his big chance to make a name for himself. Same goes for Lindholm, but to get the kind of acclaim he deserves he's going to have to contribute some decent numbers for Sweden.

Lindholm shouldn't have to perform for Sweden to register above CHL players. His AHL performance at this point should put him comfortably in the top 30.
I mean, we do have good prospects butwe are not necesarilly on top 5.
Palmieri led GPG last season in AHL, but have started slow this season Probably needs to take another step forward.
Etem looks very good... on AHL 2nd line/energy role with a great shot, speed and PK ability.
Sami Vatanen have great offensive potential, but at some games is very bad defensively.
Rickard Rakell is tied at 31st in OHL scoring. Yes, he is good devensively, but hard to put him in elite category. Jenner is the same age, same draft, picked lower than Rakell and have more points. Ritchie the same story and they share 5th and 4th place respectively. He`s good, but there are a lot of better prospects.
Peter Holland currently is 7th in AHL scoring. That`s cool, but he`s much older.
With that top5 (picked by HF) do we have a spot on top5? No!
Quote:
In general, the teams in the middle rankings are all fairly successful organizations who have an overall solid group of prospects, but possess few if any players with elite potential. /HF/
Outside the top are actually prospects who should be in top5 potential wise. Lindholm and Gibson (TSN picked as the best player in OHL). But they are harder to judge (because of Lindholms type as a player, doing a lot of little things at a young age and goalies (Gibson) in particular).
I can definately see why we arent in top 5 like we did in last ranks. We canargue about few spots higher though, but the overall picture may not be as good as we think. But, let`s not forget that we have young players like Devo, Fowler and Sbisa already as a ''veterans''.
