Honestly I think the lockout is great for Lehner's development.
Since we drafted Lehner you knew he wanted to be in the NHL...every game he was called up he put in 110% and put up good numbers. During the Calder Cup run Brust led us to the playoffs... it was Lehner that kept us in it and was the key part in winning that cup.
We all knew what he was capable of, he just seemed unmotivated playing in the AHL. With no NHL this season the AHL is the biggest league he can play in...and he's been playing stellar in the regular season finally.
I think Lehner is one of those types that will put in a good season effort, but plays lights out when the games actually count.
Agreed - I consider this the biggest surprise. ZJ should be scoring much more at this level especially since:
Except for a few ad-hoc changes he has been on the top line and hasn't produced like he should for a 1st rounder. The season's not over and I hope for the best but I expected more from him at this point. If he needs 1 full season in Bingo then so be it, but I'd like to see more production before he moves up to the show.
No disagreement with you on this Main.
It is important to note that he was moved to a new position for more than half the games, and for the most part none of the forwards were scoring much until recently.
