Defense Shayne Gostisbehere — LD — Union — A revelation as a true freshman last season at Union, Gostisbehere only continued to impress this summer in Lake Placid. He really came out of nowhere to get drafted, but continually reenforces Philly’s decision with his play. With great skating and tremendous offensive awareness, Gostisbehere can be a threat at both ends of the ice. He understands his physical limitations in the D-zone and makes up for it with a good defensive stick and sound positioning. He has the ability to exploit the big ice with his skating and vision, which will help supplement the offense should he make the team. Gostisbehere has been a point-per-game player with five goals and eight assists in 13 games. He also has played on the big stage as part of Union’s Frozen Four team last year and that experience certainly counts. The U.S. has a pretty tough decision when it comes to Gostisbehere, Grzelcyk and Reilly. It is unlikely they will take all three as they’re each similar, so it comes down to defending. That’s where I think Gostisbehere has an edge and what I believe will put him on the team. Philadelphia Flyers

So he made it? Sweet. We haven't had anyone play in it since Giroux, right?
He didn't make it, but he's a very strong bet to make it. Bertilsson(no longer our property) played in '10-11, and Couturier played before his draft year, so he wasn't our property yet. JVR played in 3 from 07 to 09. Giroux played in 08.
Thanks for posting the schedule Schenn Couturier. If Gostisbehere makes it I might try to watch the Russia vs. U.S. game. Are Galchenyuk (Sp?) and Kuznetsov (is he still eligible?) going to be on team Russia?

Galchenyuk is American, and will be on Team USA. Kuznetsov is not eligible. Were you thinking of Grigorenko(Russia) when you said Galchenyuk?

I'm pretty sure Noebels played for Germany last year too.
I must admit I can't wait to see Gostisbehere play at the world juniors, it appears he's probably a lock to make the team and once he makes it he'll probably be having a top four role for the U.S.
Yeah it sucks, it was a lot more convenient when it was in Canada.
True, and I also don't think I'll be watching games live. But I'm sure TSN is going to have all of the games that they broadcast on video on demand, so there's not much to worry about. I prefer to watch them on my own schedule anyways.

Yeah but it sucks that you have to try and avoid seeing the scores on HF and twitter.

I don't go to twitter and I can avoid HF for a couple of hours no problem. Last year, for example, I clicked on discussion threads before the games started, so that when I saw one game, but not the others that were already played I didn't have to go to the boards, but directly to the thread discussing that particular game. And I did actually know a lot of score beforehand anyway, but to me the tournament isn't only about scores, but also about watching and trying to evaluate how good the up-and-coming prospects are. So the games were still plenty of fun, although I did suck in a way that the only games I saw live were the ones TSN didn't cover, i.e. the "less interesting" ones like Latvia vs. Denmark and the like

Oh,no to be honest I was thinking of Yakupov. I didn't pay much attention to the draft this past Summer except a little bit in regards to the Flyers prospects. I took a glance at this article recently http://puckprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1405 and I guess I just mixed up the names.
