One m-l source said that if Hamilton doesn't re-sign with Texas, Seattle looms as more likely landing spot than Boston

Bridge year.

Signing Hamilton will appease the fan base though, started typing Crawford by mistake.

I'm stunned that they are actually trying to get a guy with more excuses than Adrian Gonzalez

Because I know next to nothing about advanced baseball stats, what exactly is ERA+? (I do know ERA is obviously a part of it lol)

Adjusted ERA+, often simply abbreviated to ERA+ or ERA plus, is a pitching statistic in baseball. It adjusts a pitcher's earned run average (ERA) according to the pitcher's ballpark (in case the ballpark favors batters or pitchers) and the ERA of the pitcher's league. Average ERA+ is set to be 100; a score above 100 indicates that the pitcher performed better than average, below 100 indicates worse than average.

era+ discussion here

http://www.baseball-fever.com/showth...A-calculations

good for your question topshelf, i think. and it illuminates how it's calculated.

era+ (or ops+) are not perfect stats but they're pretty simple and decent indicators of how good a player is. they have their flaws.

To me, where there's smoke...there's fire. They must see something in Myers as a red flag in his game. Do we know what they're getting in return?

the only smoke to the fire is that moore signed francoeur to an extension and myers is ready...and blocked by jeff francoeur.

I read/heard that Myers strikes out a ton or has recently and the league he is in is notorious for a lot of homeruns. I'm certainly not claiming to be an expert here on Myers though.

his k% actually went down when he got to triple a.

and he's 21! 21! seriously! why are the royals trading away a 21 year old outfielder for a year of james shields?

Nothing is close yet with the Rays and Royals regarding a Shields for Myers swap. Rosenthal simply stated that it was going to be a tough decision for Moore because he would probably have to add on to Myers and that is something he is reluctant to do.

Andrew Friedman talking to Dayton Moore about a trade just isn't fair.

Yeah, it's going to end poorly for the Royals about 95% of the time. They shouldn't even bother picking up the phone if they see Friedman is on the other line. Dayton has no shot.
