Guys watching the Finland-Canada 07 WC final replay and the key to our success that game was the relentless forecheck and contributions from the energy players like Lombardi, Chimera Mayers. I feel Catanacci should be on this team and along with Danault should be key. Will be interesting to see how Camara fares in camp, apparently a really good skater who plays with an edge.

I really want Catenacci on this team but i just cant see where he fits ahead of anyone... His speed is unreal which is great on a big ice surface, much like Murphys speed. Funny how both were on the same minor midget team and that fast back then... along with Goodrow.

Yeah, Cat would look good on the big rink.
I think I'd have him as the 13th forward over a guy like McNeill or Camara. He'd definitely be on my team if the lock-out ends and causes us to lose some centers too.

Agreed. I get why McNeill is a guy youd normally want in the WJC, but id rather slot Cantenacci into a 4th line or 13th forward role, especially because I would have no problem moving him into a 2nd line role if need be

So because McNeil has size and strength he wouldn't be a good player to move up the lineup
He is a first line player on his club team, and was also drafted in the first round ( I'm assuming for more reasons than size).
I don't see either guy making it to be honest, I just feel McNeil is a more diverse player who could fill multiple roles much better than a speedster.
I have Catenacci in my lineup for sure. I see the offense shaping up something like this:
Scheifele - Nugent-Hopkins - Rattie (Nuge and Rattie will make magic, Scheifele will create space)
Huberdeau - MacKinnon - Drouin (Previous Chemistry)
Hudon - Strome - Ritchie (Strome and Ritchie have the chem from Niagra, Hudon complements them)
Jenner - Catenacci - Danault (Energy, physicality - perfect 4th line)
Wilson/McNeill (Whoever wins the 13th spot in camp)
I'm starting to think even if Monahan has a good camp, he won't be on the team with 2 draft eligables there already. MacKinnon and Drouin are clearly ahead of him. Don't see anyone else who would give Wilson, McNeill or Catenacci a battle for those last spots.

Jenner is the 3rd line centre, I don't think there is any question about that whatsoever.
And Strome is on fire right now. He'll be the second line C.

Monahan is a 6'2" 193 third year OHL player. As much as I like Drouin, if any of the three young guys isn't making it, I doubt it will be Monahan. I think he is versatile and can fit in on either top two or bottom two lines. As well, he is an ideal 13th forward due to that versatility.
I really like your top 3 lines, but see 2&3 getting fairly even playing time. Rattie is a very overlooked player on this squad. I could see him among the points leaders. I disagree with your fourth line. Danault Jenner Wilson is my smash line, with Monahan as 13.
I like the 4th line as they are all eligible to return, the bottom 6 has plenty of sandpaper but can also put up points. I think the D is a wildcard, Sproul just came back from a broken arm and is still putting up points, im intrigued to see how the murphy/Spott relationship affects his chances if he has a bad camp.

Harrington-Hamilton
Ouellet-Rielly
Dumba-Reinhart
Pouliot (In case Reinhart or Rielly gets hurt)
The detroit pair have been on fire, the defense pairng are pretty interchangeable but those would be my 7, people underrate Sproul, he was having a lights out year before he got hurt and he has been playing well since he got back. I dont see the big deal of putting a D guy like Harrington with an offensive wizard like Dumba, i think they would compliment each other nicely, especially with Dumba's speed and phsyicallty. The thirteenth spot is gonna be a tough one, i think it's gonna be an offensive guy between Mackinnon and Drouin, maybe even hudon. I just don't see the need for both when you have older and more experienced stars in the top 6. That first line looks filthy.

I agree, I've now watched Catenacci enough to know that there isn't a player available that can be more valuable to this team due to his versatility. He can play centre or wing, is a defensive specialist while a league leader in points and one of the best at winning face-offs. I can't immagine HC leaving a player that offers so much off the roster. Lets not forget his blazing speed which is exactly what you need for that big Olympic ice surface. It's a different game over there and Catenacci is the protype player for the big ice. Spott and HC will have to be careful taking too many bigger, slower players because the speed on the big ice will be insane!
I think that's the new line-up I'm leaning toward.
You've got a first line with world class talent, a second line with proven chemistry, a top-notch checking line and an energy line that can crash/bang and chip in some offense.
This is assuming that Team Canada doesn't bring the young guys.

Needs more skill in my opinion. Too many role players. Against a team like the Americans, we'll need a third line that can score, and I'm not 100% certain we can depend on that with this lineup. Even if you don't want Drouin, guys like MacKinnon and Monahan need to be in there somewhere.

I just have a feeling Team Canada will shy away from the young kids like they usually do.
I wouldn't mind MacKinnon and Drouin in the line-up. Although, I don't think a duo of Hudon and Jenner would have problems putting up points.
Hamilton - Rielly
Harrington - Ouellet
Reinhart - Dumba
Murphy
Subban
Binnington
Brossoit
probably won't happen because HC is usually stingy with their young players but I truly believe that this would be the most effective lineup we could ice

Came down to him and McNeill for the 13th forward spot
I like the Strome-Ritche chemistry idea but I like the Mac-Drouin one even more
I think that 2nd line has the potential to do major damage with all 3 of their speed, puck moving and dangling abilities
If I was going to send Ritchie he'd need to be paired with Strome to make it worthwhile but at the same time I'm not crazy about having Ritchie in my top six and Strome shouldn't be on the team's 3rd line the way he has been playing this season

That was my rationale
Strome playing without Ritchie leads to interesting options, but I'd find a place for him (Ritchie) somewhere, I think. Either that, or I'd have to consider keeping Rattie as the 13th forward, lol. Can get interesting (mind you, I keep LHS on LW and RHS on RW as much as possible):
